Free Music Notes for New Kids on the Block - Greatest HitsFree Music Review: The Right Stuff!! Hit: 5 StarsI love this CD! It's bringing me back to my childhood days when I had the biggest crush on Jordan Knight. I'm jammin' to my favorite tunes on long drives and loving every minute. It's a great buy for any dedicated or closet New Kids fan.
Free Music Review: Sublime Meditation on Contemporary Culture Hit: 5 StarsI still recall my first NKOTB sensation, hearing those dulcet beats and rich lyrics traverse my psyche was an enlightening and rapturous experience. They were kids when they began, and the children shall lead us. Myopically disparaged by some, they were, in true fact, demigods. Messiahs who spoke of the ills of modern times so brilliantly and intoxicatingly, that, for some, it was difficult to listen. They were bombarded with the frivolous ordeals of fame and genius and in fact did succumb to these devices. There was Donny's mysterious series of injuries, Jordan's plastic surgery, Joey's battle with over the counter medications, Danny's near fatal fascination with Chef Boyardee and many other tribulations that, ultimately, failed to dampen the incendiary and blazingly inventive spirit of these fine, youthful artists. These were problems exaggerated and exacerbated by non-believers, degrading and attempting to corrupt something greater than themselves. Luckily for us all, they failed and the triumph stands in the timeless music of NKOTB.
Free Music Review: I'm sorry, I just can't hate them! Hit: 4 StarsI tried... but I just can't. Listening to their music brings back too many fond memories, it's absolutely impossible for me to turn up my nose at NKOTB. When taken out of their late 80s context, songs like Hangin' Tough or Step by Step sound downright ridiculous and seem like nothing but ultra-saccharine bubblegum pop. But for old time fans like me, they remain enjoyable because they bring us back to a time when we, pre-teen girls, didn't have to shamefully hide our love for Joey, Jordan or Danny for fear of being mocked and ridiculed by haters the way BSB or Nsync fans had been a few years ago. NKOTB are the original pop boyband, and the aforementioned groups should be really thankful for them. The New Kids paved the way for pop craze that took place in the late 90s. And while this is reason enough for some people to hate them, I'm just grateful for all the childhood memories and the good times spent listening to NKOTB with my friends.
Free Music Review: The Original Boy Band Hit: 4 StarsSay what you want about these guys, but they had some great hits. Maurice Starr supplied them with great songs, and much of this collection stems from their breakthrough '89 debut. Whether you love boy bands or just pure pop music at its best, no doubt this one's for you.
Free Music Review: The wonderful gift of great music Hit: 5 StarsI already bought copies of this for my future children. In fact, I hope I have 5 sons so I can name them all after the NKOTB (as they were later known.)Then I can play this CD for them over and over and over again.
Maybe that will inspire them to form their own group and call themselves The Newer Kids On The Block. That is my dream and dreams can come true.
