Free Music Notes for New York DollsFree Music Review: A TIMELESS CLASSIC Hit: 5 Stars
ALMOST 30 YEARS AFTER IT'S RELEASE,THIS ALBUM STILL SOUNDS LIKE SOME OF THE BALLSIEST ROCK IN HISTORY. FILLED WITH FORMATIVE PUNK CLASSICS,LIKE "PERSONALITY CRISIS", "LOOKING FOR A KISS" & "TRASH", PRECIOUS LIITLE ROCKED HARDER THAN THIS ALBUM WHEN IT WAS RELEASED IN 1973. JOHHNY THUNDERS' WHITE NOISE GUITAR AND JERRY NOLAN'S ROCK SOLID DRUMMING ARE WORTH THE PRICE OF ADMISSION ALONE. PROPHETS WITHOUT HONOR IN THEIR OWN TIME,THEY ARE NOW CONSIDERED LEGENDARY & AN INFLUENCE ON A WHO'S WHO OF PUNK. TRULY EXCELLENT STUFF.
Free Music Review: Pure rock n roll energy Hit: 5 Stars
one thing's for sure. if i decide to start my recording career, I will never get that Todd Rundgren to produce my album. sometimes you can barely hear david johansen's voice. its not enough to kill the album though. check "Jet Boy". One of the most exiting, powerful, intense rock and roll songs ive heard in my life. even though the pistols wrote "New York" you can hear johnny thunders influence on steve jones all the time on "Nevermind the bollocks here's the sex pistols". i bet guns 'n roses liked the dolls too.
Free Music Review: One of the greatest albums ever Hit: 5 Stars
The ultimate glam rock album, showing the sleaziness and appreciation of rock 'n' roll roots that made the genre so popular. Just when the Stones stopped being good, the Dolls came along and played Chuck Berry and Little Richard inspired rock 'n' roll that changed rock forever. Songs such as "Personality Crisis" and "Trash" perfectly show just why the Dolls are one of the best rock 'n' roll bands of all time. IT doesn't sound as great as it did on the first listen (the only minor criticism), but is still a must buy for the ultimate punk collection.
Free Music Review: You need to hear this... Hit: 5 Stars
...Most especially if you're a fan of punk or glam rock. The New York Dolls to me are category-less, but their songs are timeless anthems that every punk rock fan should know. Dee Dee Ramone (of the Ramones) and Johnny Thunders were close associates. The Dolls were sparking up new bands around New York for years. They grew to be one of the most inspirational groups of all time. But besides the impact they would have on other bands, the New York Dolls' sound is magnificent. The songs "Trash" and "Personality Crisis" and "Pills" can't be missed.
Free Music Review: New York Dolls - self-titled (Mercury) Hit: 5 Stars
Review number 63.Originally unleashed to an unexpected public in summer of 1973,this was of course the glam rocker's very first record. If you think the Stooges were great, step aside, this CD reissue is ALSO a true Proto-Punk classic. Every one of this album's slamming tunes 'practically' pulls you in,like "Personality Crisis", the radio friendly(?) "Looking For A Kiss", "Lonely Planet Boy" (one of my personal favorites), "Bad Girl", "Pills" and "Jet Boy". So glad they've recently reunited, aren't you? Highly recommended.
