But as far as new music was concerned I figured there would be no way they could recapture the magic without Johnny Thunders. I was wrong. Can David Johansen and what's left of the Dolls (Syl Sylvain and that's all folks), make a compelling album thirty-two years after their last one? YES. This is one of those records that makes you remember why you loved Rock 'n' Roll in the first place. Johansen lives it. Breathes it. Screams it. David and the boys still know how to rock like young trouble. The new Dolls keep the sound true to their great Doll ancestors. Nothing fake about this, the lyrics are from men in their '50's who came through it all with clear vision. A wonderful gift from the rock Gods. Props to Morrissey for pushing David. Simply put, this is the best new album I've purchased in years. It's just a no-b.s. straight-up rock and roll cd. High points, not that there are any low points, are Dancing on the Lip of a Volcano, I Ain't Got Nothing, and Fishnets & Cigarettes. Finally a album has comeout that really is great and all the songs are really good. So many albums have cameout for alongtime with only 2 listenable songs (cough a bigger bang rolling stones). i highly recomend this great rock n roll album buy it now. you won't be dissapointed.
