Free Music Notes for Now Or NeverFree Music Review: Pure Pop Perfection Hit: 5 Stars
Nick Carter has released an excellent, eminently listenable c.d. -- every track is great. This is a c.d. to play over and over again, each time choosing a different song as your new favorite. Nick has cultivated a more mature, edgier rasp to his voice, while not sacrificing the extensive vocal range he always exhibited with the Backstreet Boys. He has co-written five of the tracks on the album, resulting in a more personal artistic statement than we have heretofore heard from him. Now Or Never begins with the catchy pop/rock of "Help Me", "My Confession" and "I Stand For You" and moves on to the killer power ballad "Do I Have To Cry For You", evoking Bryan Adams and Richard Marx at their prime. (This should definitely be the next single from the album and will be a huge hit, potentially achieving the worldwide success of Adams' Robin Hood ballad, "Everything I Do".) Bryan Adams is not the only musical influence evident in Carter's music -- "Girls In The USA" recalls vintage Van Halen with a dash of Shaggy, "I Just Wanna Take You Home" comes from the blink-182 vein, and "Blow Your Mind" combines an 80s techno feel with heavy grunge guitar to create a unique song that is currently lodged in/blowing my mind. "Is It Saturday Yet?" is an engaging anthem for the entire school year, "Miss America" has a really sexy groove to match its lyrics ('In this land of the free, make a prisoner of me'), and "I Got You" is surely the most infectious confection of pure pop perfection since BSB's "I Want It That Way" (also scripted by Max Martin). The c.d. comes to a climactic crescendo with the virtuoso vocal performance of "Heart Without A Home", then the mellow "Who Needs The World?" adds an acoustic coda to this awesome pop journey. It's just my humble opinion, but I hazard to say that if you don't like this c.d., you don't really like pop music.
Free Music Review: Amazingly, Really! Hit: 5 Stars
I love BSB, and so when I heard NIck's CD was coming out I was a little worried about getting it because I was afraid Nick would turn into Hanson, going from pop to heavy metal (which they did NOT sound right for) but I was WRONG! Nick sounds awesome and he's travelled far enough from BSB to get his own sound, but not far enough to scare some teenies, which I'm not. Nick has REAL talent. Justin Timberlake cannot even compare to Nick's truness, with his amazing voice to his sweet lyrics. This album has everything a rock fan could want. And hey, look, they all have a meaning! It has sweet ballads, funny pop-songs, and awesome rock-heavy tracks. I won't skip ONE track, which proves how awesome it truly is becuase I'm quite picky. "Heart Without a Home", "Blow My Mind" and "I Got You" are my favorites, and the only weak one is probably "I Stand For You", but even that song is awesine! Help Me-4/5 at first I loved it, but compared to some of the others it's not as good as I thought! My confession-5/5 It's not a love-soaked ballad, it's about what real relationships go through. Nick is wondering what this girl is thinking. I Stand For You-4/5 again not my favorite it's a little weak sometimes, but it's also one of the two 'funner' tracks. Nick's rap is too cute, though! Do I Have To Cry For You? 5/5 AWESOME! It's a sweet ballad but not..eww sweet, ya know? Girls In The USA 5/5 it's not perverted! lol that's what a friend of mine said! I Got You-10/5 it's AWESOME! The BEST! Is It Saturday Yet? 5/5 the other 'funner' side track. It's FUNNY! Especially the Jerry Springer/Martha Stewart/Aaron Carter part! Blow Your Mind 5/5 Miss America 4/5 definately not my favorite but it's okay I Just Wanna Take You Home 5/5 Heart Without a Home-5/5 AWESOME! Who Needs The World 5/5-anyone can relate to this song!
Free Music Review: Nick Carter's Delicious Solo Debut Hit: 5 Stars
The day has finally arrived. The day that various Nick Carter fans around the world have been anticipating. This Tuesday the 29th of October is album release day and you can bet your pennies that there was a crowd of anxious fans picking up their own copy of "Now Or Never" the solo debut by Nick Carter. When the name Nick Carter comes to mind it's not long before the words "Backstreet Boys" follow and a person who is not a hardcore fan might think 'oh another pop album, great' with a hint of sarcasm there. Now there goes a saying that one should not judge a book by a cover. Before jumping to conclusion take a careful listen to this album before attacking it. Though he does not having his fellow Backstreet Boys backing him up he still sounds excellent pouring his heart and soul into each song. "Now or Never" contains twelve tracks of different aspects. Carter does lean towards the rock sound with more emphasis on the guitar than the typical beats of a pop song. Of course there is still the pop element present but that cannot be helped since that was what helped get Carter where he is right now. His album has a song that touches almost every emotion. From the emotional ballad "Do I Have To Cry For You" to the upbeat tribute to all the girls who live in the USA "Girls in the USA." Then there's the easy listen of "My Confession," the eighty's sounding "Blow Your Mind," and the seductive track entitled "Miss America." Carter's album is surely a feel good CD and is surely to appeal to anyone. So don't be afraid to pick up this album. It's probably overshadowed by the releases of Eminem and Christina Aguilera's releases but don't get swayed by hype. Carter shines in his album and sings with a deep passion. "Now or Never" is surely one of the finer albums of the year 2002.

I've been waiting for this CD to come out for quite some time, I'm not going to lie about it. I was excited but realistic. I knew he was going in a different direction but how far can a `guy from a boyband' stray without people thinking he's a poseur?I honestly expected another Backstreet album. Pop, a little R&B mixed in for good measure, but that definitive `Backstreet sound' that they've become famous for. What I got was the heart and soul of a man that at only 22 is showing the world why he got a record deal when he had barely hit puberty. Not since Bryan Adams' glory days could you find a CD with ballads (like "Do I Have To Cry For You", "Who Needs The World" and "Heart Without A Home") & great rock tracks (80's styled "Blow Your Mind") that flow seamlessly and seem effortlessly put together. His 80's rock influences are apparent throughout and it's a welcome change from sugary sweet pop songs that all sound the same and have no real depth to them. You almost can't pick which one is your favorite, although if I really had to choose I'd pick "Blow Your Mind" for its strong lyrics, great hook, overall great sound and "I Got You", an up-tempo long song that makes you recall a certain someone that makes you feel that way. My only complaint is that, running at just under 44 minutes, it leaves you wanting more and you can't believe how fast the tracks flow by before it's time to play them all over again. The DVD makes up for most of that complaint, though. It is filled with a picture gallery, two interviews (that are surprisingly in-depth), Nick in Sweden during the recording of "I Got You", and a mini-montage of video of him set to "I Got You". ~Diana
Free Music Review: Now Or Never is the one to Buy!!! Hit: 5 Stars
Help Me: The first time I heard this song was about 3-4 months ago as a demo on one of the popular websites as soon as I heard this I just started to fall in love with it and was hoping it will be first single of his debut solo album. As soon as I heard this I couldn't seem to get the song out of my head! This song is a song that is easily to song along with! This song can relate to anyone where they are stuck in the middle of their situation and which they can't get out of in which they need help with. My Confession: This song is kind of a mix of rock and pop with this has great guitar and piano to this and is very easy listening this is one of my other faves as well. I wonder if he's singing this song about Lance Bass from *NSYNC from the lyrics "and I want you to know, when you're floating in space, and I want you to know if you ever come back down, and I need you to know." LOL I'm just kidding! You know, I don't think he would write a song about him! I Stand For You: Another great job for Nick to write this along with Brian Kieruff and Josh Schwartz (they are one of my fave writers and producers who have worked with the Backstreet Boys and have done a tremendous job writing this song!) this song has great guitars and drums and great lyrics with the chorus! This song is mostly dedicated to people on what they want to do in their life! And Nick sings from his heart in what he wants to do in life and that he's free and also with you who is reading this at the moment Nick is just saying that he'll stand for you when you are young! Nick said that he wanted to do this album for a long time and saying that he is free to do what he wants to do while he is solo with the Boys disagreeing with things he wants to do!
