Free Music Notes for All the Right Reasons AlbumFree Music Review: first time reviewer..sorry for the rambling.... Hit: 5 StarsI can only agree with the previous reviews, so instead of breaking down every song again, I will try something a little different so here it goes....... I guess when I first heard Nickelback it was "how you remind me" on the local radio station. If you remember this was a time best known for rock one hit wonders(not much has changed) and I figured these guys to be next in that line. My girl bought me the CD and needless to say I was hooked. Buying their previous releases "Curb" and "The State" were 2 of the best investments I have made in years.
With "The Long Road" these guys did what many can't, surpass the hipe that surrounded "Silver Side Up", with singles like "Because of you" and "Figured you out" and another album that could be listened to from front to back without getting bored I knew they were sticking around. They have it figured out ...put out an Album that keeps you pumped and lyrics most can relate to but are not commercial.
I have seen theys guys live twice and let me be the first to say they are put on a show that is worth double the ticket price.....
Anyway it has been a long wait for this release, this morning had the Christmas feel to it. I took the day off from work ( I know you are thinking overkill, but it is not everyday in this era of downloading songs that sound good until the next catchy tune is in the top 5 I buy a new CD especially on its release date) I was at the music store at open time and paid 10 bucks for a cd I would have glading dropped twenty five for.
I live in New Hampshire and if you did not know the fall is a great up here , nice crisp air and the leaves turning color...so I peeled the top off my wrangler and having no patience for the wrapping on cds I was able to crack open the case a bit to just get my hands on the cd and pull it out. I waited until I got just far enough out of town not to be distracted by local traffic to slip the disc in and head towards the mountains and let the music soak into me.
I was not sure what to expect, having to listened to "photograph" countless times in the past couple months I was eager to experience the tracks that surrounded it. This album supplied me with 45 minutes of what one would want from Nickelback, a solid album that has its fast tracks that get you pumped enough that you just want someone to piss you off, to its slower songs that make you remember better times. I found myself jamming out hard to "save me" which is my favorite on the release. I drove around for about 3 hours with this cd blasting on repeat(probably getting made fun of for playing the air drums as it is hard to hide what you are jamming to in a wrangler)
I have not been able to stop listening to this album, if you know Nickelback I'm sure you already bought this and can agree or are planning to...For those who may be younger or are just getting into Nickelback(my advice is buy their previous albums also -they will only make you like this one more) this is one of those rare Albums that doesn't just dump a single on the radio then release an "OK" album. This is as solid as they come, look for this one to give your favorite rock stations some great singles.
Thanks Nickelback for another great release!
