Our son was so pleased with this CD and I was thrilled when all of my order came to the home and I was able to have my Christmas shopping complete. I had been ill and was unable to shop except online. Thanks for your help Amazon and for making our family's Christmas a happy one.
Free Music Review: Good Solid Fun

These guys certainly evoke strong emotions on either side of the fence. You either love em or think they're the worse thing to happen to rock since MTV. I'm in the former group in as much as I think these are masterly crafted pop songs. The songs are catchy, with some fairly smart lyrics and a lot of them have a sly, underlying sense of humor. The first track, "Follow You Home" is a pretty good example. It's an old blues and rock staple about a guy whose love is so strong it borders on the creepy stalker side but with lines like, "Well you can stick me in a hole, And you can pray all day for rain" it's hard to take it too seriously. In "Animals" the protagonist starts out as every father's worst nightmare. You think it's a song about a hedonistic playboy on the make but by the end the playboy turns out to be a fake pleading for mercy from the father. It's not life changing but still clever. The ballads are catchy enough. They're in the same tradition of all power ballads. "Photograph" hits on all the right memories just like any commercial country song. We all have a photo from our past, one we can't quite place but means something none the less. While I think it is a cheap attempt to evoke nostalgia, you have to admit it's also masterfully executed. I think this is a band that takes themselves a lot less serious than their critics. "Rockstar" is the proof of that. This song has always reminded me of one of my favorite songs, "Life's Been Good To Me" by Joe Walsh. Most of the anti-Nickleback movement uses this song as proof that they are some how out of sync with the reality around them. They like to point out the song was written by a band that's already living the rockstar life. That would make sense if the song were autobiographical. The song is mocking the celebrity lifestyle but it's also poking fun at the people who buy into the preconception. It seems by other reviews and comments posted there are plenty of people buying into that preconception.
They aren't the greatest band in the world, but they definitely aren't the worst. Besides, if they're cool enough to have Billy Gibbons play on two songs and show up in a video, they've got something going for them.
Free Music Review: Not as angry, still rocking

Nickelback still rocks though I notice the lyrics aren't quite as angry as in the earlier albums. No matter. Success and maybe happier lives haven't ruined the edginess of this band. It's still rock and roll and I like it. Free Music Review: Best Rock Album in Awhile

Although there are many other good artists out there, this is one of the best albums to come out in a long time. It is more of a popish/alternative type of music as opposed to hard rock like metallica or a more alternative linkin park. If you are not afraid to like popular music than this is a great album. I know a lot of people shun popular bands in the rock and roll industry, but these guys are good. You won't waste your money and you can still rock out to it with your kids around, but it's okay to go with your windows down with it as well. I give it 5 stars. Go buy it! This is the best album EVER!!! OMG!!!! How can anybody not like it??? I'm gonna burn every other album I own because they all s**k compared to this! I hope I live forever so I can listen to this forever!!!! All I can say is WOW!!!!!!!! I gotta go, my mom's calling me for dinner.
