Free Music Review: All The Right Reasons to buy this
Hit: 5 Stars

I've heard the song "Rockstar" on the radio and just really wanted it. I listened to clips of the CD on Amazon. I realized I knew about 3-4 other songs on the CD, and love them too, so decided to buy it. Now, it's my drive into work listening music. Great CD...not a big surpise, Nickelback is great.

Free Music Review: This band is a turd that needs to get flushed
Hit: 1 Stars

It's a sad state of affairs when a bad this awful sells as many cds as it does. Could this many people be wrong? I suppose so, then again, "music" like this was intentionally designed to appeal to the lowest common denominator. Have you ever noticed that great bands like Led Zeppelin and the Beatles became disillusioned with the music industry and started their own labels? They were ridiculously talented and were both the number one band in the world at one point; they should have been the last acts that would have been unhappy with the way things were, and yet they still couldn't deal with it. Do you think nickelback is ever going to try and buck the system? Of course not. They're not artists, they're corporate puppets that put out bland, generic music. It's overcompressed in order to make it "rock", but it does nothing of the sort. During the 90's, there was a huge media consolidation and now most of the media and entertainment industry is owned by a few large corporations that operate at the mercy of the US government, due to the fact that they get their license from the feds. What does this have to do with Nickelback? Everything related to the media and entertainment industry is becoming increasingly regimented and regulated. There simply is no variety anymore through mainstream outlets. I'm not saying that it's intentional, but it results in a certain mentality that is not inducive to creativity or the free exchange of ideas. Chad Kroegers lyrics are generic and juvenile. I don't think that you have to push the envelope every time you make music in order for it to be good. There have always been bland bands out there like Matchbox 20 or Huey Lewis and the News, but at least those guys could play their instruments and although their lyrics aren't exactly profound, they aren't embarassingly stupid either. Although I would never go out of my way to listen to them, I don't want to vomit whenever I hear them. If nothing else, they're great background noise. Bands like Nickelback, Three Doors Down, Hinder and Staind, however, have reached a new low. Whenever I hear this garbage while I'm out somewhere, it reminds me why I haven't listened to FM radio in years. Unfortunately, the corporate gods of rock are trying to figure out how to regulate internet and satellite radio. If you think this is a good cd, I would suggest doing an experiment: go a week without listening to FM radio and the next time you want to buy music, try doing it from an independent source like CD Baby as opposed to Target or Walmart (or whatever corporate entity you bought Nickelbacks latest offering from). There's a lot of great music out there that doesn't get past the gatekeepers, but if you know where to look, you can still find it. If you want to keep eating at McDonalds, ignore what I've written, but if you want to eat filet mignon instead of cheap burgers, have an open mind and try digging a little deeper to find good music.

Free Music Review: "If everyone cared"...no,I don't
Hit: 1 Stars

The backstory behind the preachy,quasi-"We are the world" ballad "If everyone cared" is that Nickelback originally planned to cut this song from the album. However, faithful Nickelheads complained;lo,they raised a hue and cry from among the nations. Behold, they let loose their wrath upon the internets...and Nickelback decided to release it anyway.

Nickelback would've been smart to cut the ENTIRE album and spare music fans from their quasi-rock n'roll. But no,they didn't,and for all the wrong reasons.

The opening track,"Follow you home" is a creepy stalker anthem, but since it requires plenty of meaningless screams,it won't become a wedding song like the Police's "Every breath you take." For one thing, it's not singable, thank goodness. "Fight for all the wrong reasons" is a 'romantic' song about sympathy/breakup sex, with heartfelt lyrics such as "It's hard to leave you when you go down on me." "Animals" is in the same romantic vein, with it's "we're just animals" theme, and its Animal Planet/mating lyrics of "We're acting like animals." The "Far Away","Savin' Me" and "Photograph" are the sappy ballad triumvirate. "Side of a bullet" is one of the worst tribute songs ever composed;it's dedicated to Pantera guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott. It's bad enough to make one long for Sir Elton John's "Candle in the Wind." The infamous "If everyone cared" has the unintended consequence of breeding nihilism. There's the "Amen, amen" as Chad Kroeger tries to be another Bono,or a Christian rocker of some sort. "If everyone cared" has the depth of a preachy Hallmark card;except some Hallmark cards play better music. The closing song,"Rockstar",is chock full o' feigned sarcasm about the rock star lifestyle. It mocks rock stars who cash in&have a bevy of Playboy bunnies along with "playing baseball in the bathroom." It would make more sense if Nickelback weren't constantly cashing in.

Blender magazine praises Nickelback as "meat and potatoes rock." Using a food analogy,it's more like a greasy spoon...or a bland fast food joint.

Free Music Review: GREAT cd!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

This album is great for any mood you might be in. In love? Lonely? Mad? In a "go ahead I dare you" mood? Then there's a song for you on this album. This is the first cd I have purchased in YEARS for which I can truly say I enjoy EVERY song. Most artists have one or two good songs on their cd's with the rest being mediocre to horrid. You end up having wasted your money. Not Nickelback! They continue to prove themselves to be fantasitcally talented musicians!!!

Free Music Review: Unnecessary
Hit: 1 Stars

There were no right reasons to release this audio atrocity. Nickelback already released four albums before that were completely identical sounding, not to mention that they recycled their own songs. The day Creed broke up wasn't enough to endure the audio pain of stagnant, watered down formulatic radio rock that plagued MTV and the corporate world. We still have Nickelback to worry about.

This album is a complete sack of vapid, predictable and lifeless rock. "Photograph" is just an agonizing ballad with the horrendous vocals of the Paddle Pop Lion, er, I mean Chad Kroeger. "Savin' Me" is just a copy of "Someday", which was a copy of "How You Remind Me". "Animals" is an annoying hard rock song with vague lyrics. "Rockstar" is just what happens when you turn G-Unit into a rock band. "If Everyone Cared"...wow, cheesy ballad #12349724394872943, same with "Far Away". That tribute to the late Pantera guitarist Dimebag Darrell, "Side of a Bullet", is making him turn violently in his grave. The whole CD is as sterile as a fixed dog.

Unless you want to hear the same old radio ballads on repeat and adore that hideous vocalist known as Chad Kroaker, I mean Kroeger, stay away from it at all costs. I wouldn't touch this with a 69 foot pole.
