Free Music Review: Lots of haters out there huh?
Hit: 5 Stars

Wow, pretty easy to spot the people who just hate for the sake of hating.

Pretty predictable really, years back "corporate rock" was the slander thrown at any group that was popular. The obvious logic being that if you were popular and many people enjoyed your music? -- Well, you just HAD to be a "Sell Out" aka "corporate rock"

Now enter Nickelback, they become wildly popular and, yup, there's something wrong with that.

I read thru all the 1 Star"reviews" and, at the risk of committing the same crime, with hardly any exceptions they are all written by people who don't own the album (I Do Own it) haven't heard it (I have) but their reviews are more about hating success, hating music in general or rock music less generally or (and I love this) those who protest the use of "bad" language. These are the same people who buy tickets to porn movies and complain about being "offended" by what they saw. If you KNOW you don't/won't like it ? Dont buy it, don't get a ticket, don't listen to it, change the channel.

They fail to actually review the MUSIC and instead write a diatribe on what's wrong with the world (this is the sin I now share) the music part has been well reviewed and there is little I can do to add to the good information out there already. What I felt I Could Do, was give NB another 5, and comment on the stupidity I saw.

This ain't twitter or facebook people.

Free Music Review: excellent followup
Hit: 5 Stars

to their previous effort, All The Right Reasons. This time around the guys in Nickelback bring even more energy this time around. From the start to finish each song ramps up the music and takes the fans both old and new on a well deserved musical ride.

"Something in Your Mouth" starts off the new effort and has much going for it. By way of Chad's vocals and playing of the rest of the band. It's a fast, furious fun song that should be released as the next single off the album.

"Gotta Be Somebody"
"I'd Come For You"
"Next Go Round"
"Just To Get High" feels like it could be an extension of "Rockstar" (just with some of the lyrics from this song) off "All The Right Reasons"

These are just a few of the songs that should be relistened to and ones that should be getting released as future singles of the album. This album is a bit more upbeat than the last not comparing the two because they are different. "Dark Horse" is the album that should have fans off the fence and into the Nickelback area of things as it's fun to listen to more than just once and should be a favorite for sometime to come. Excellent effort all around by the guys.

Free Music Review: WOW! Need I say more?
Hit: 5 Stars

Wow, what an amazing CD! Believe it or not, the first time I'd ever heard of Nickelback was at church during a service. That's right. They played a portion of the song SAVE ME which by the way is a great song, on an amazing album, ALL THE RIGHT REASONS.

Every now and then I check to see if they have anything new out. Now mind you, I'm a country lover through and through. Love Josh Turner, Blake Shelton, Craig Morgan, Rodney Adkins, Trent Tomlinson, just to name a few. But I like to think of myself as a well rounded person when it comes to music. So I checkout out a few of the songs on Youtube and Amazon, and knew right away I had to have this one. I've only had it for a shot time but let me tell you, it's nothing short of amazing. I love it. There are many great songs that will grip your soul. Chad is an amazing singer and song writer. He has an amazingly unique sexy voice. And the words...WOW, how deep and profound, and to add that to his voice and the way the music is put together is nothing short of a gift from God.

I still have yet to figure out if he is a man of God but from many of his lyrics, if he is not, I'd have to guess he will one day.

Free Music Review: Old 80's dude digs this record
Hit: 5 Stars

First, I am 41 years old and had heard Nickelback many times on the radio and thought they were really good, but never actually bought a CD from them until now. This is not my generation of music by any stretch of the means, butI grew up in the 80's and can hear some of the 80's distinct sound/characteristics influences on this record. I never knew Mutt Lange assisted in producing this record until reading later on down the line. You can definately hear his influence on this CD. I read some of the one star reviews bashing this CD because it sounds way mainstream/different. Some bands get bashed because every record sounds the VERY SAME. It's like a catch 22 when you happen to switch and you sound a little different or you have musical aspirations to expand a little wider and experiment a bit more. In conclusion, I liked at least 2-3 songs on every Nickelback record that has come out, but I must confess I like every song on this CD. Chad, you are a good/superb singer and you're band sounds AWESOME even to an old guy much like myself. Keep cranking the good songs out, and I am looking forward to the next CD with great anticipation.

Free Music Review: Best I Got for Christmas
Hit: 5 Stars

I received 3 new albums this Christmas. I received the new Metallica, the new AC/DC and the new Nickelback. Of the three, the only one I enjoyed was Dark Horse, by Nickelback.

This album knocked me senseless in the first three songs and just wouldn't stop the entire way through. "Somethin in Your Mouth" is has some of the best word play and just smokes musically. "Burn it to the Ground" is the perfect rock song lyrically, musically, and in every other way.

I am scratching my head a bit on the contradiction between "Just to Get High" and "This Afternoon", but I think their is a distinction being made between marijuana and hard drugs in terms of what is destructive. I loved the line: "We got weeds in the back yard 4 feet tall/Cheech and Chong would probably have smoked them all"

And as a final comment: The guitar playing on this CD is smokin! There are several times that I found myself back in 88 or 89 while listening. Ryan Peake has certainly grown as a musician. His licks are spot on, creative, and still knows how to throw back to the metal we all loved back in the day.
