Free Music Notes for In the Nick of Time

Free Music Review: not quite what i expected
Hit: 4 Stars

the music content IS what i expected. her music was familiar and enjoyable. what i am disappointed with is that the sound mix in unchanged from the record. (i listened to it many, many times) it was created in the era of LP's and radio. this CD was not re-mixed for this era. the sound quality is a bit flat. i was hoping that someone had taken the time to take the sound that is (i would hope) available in the source tracks and make a CD that really shows off what nicollete is capable of in todays recording/listening standards.

Free Music Review: Beautiful music
Hit: 5 Stars

For more years than I can remember, I've been listening to a cassette tape version of this recording, which I taped from an 8-track tape, complete with channel-switching gaps in songs and so much hiss it sounds like it was recorded by a waterfall. I am overjoyed to find this album now available on CD. It's one of my all-time favorites! Between this and her first recording, you've got a LOT of good, timeless music!

Free Music Review: Best find
Hit: 5 Stars

I had been looking and requesting this from the various music shops, but was unable to locate this or even get this ordered, I loved it as an album and love it as my newly found CD.

Free Music Review: Endearing from Beginning to End
Hit: 5 Stars

This album means enough to fans that some reviewers seem to have written Masters theses about it.

Obviously, her self titled debut is what made most of us fans, but the variety and delivery on In the Nick of Time really showed how Nicolette had staying power.

Dancin' Jones puts a smile on my face every time I hear it, setting a mood that makes it hard to leave before the entire album has played. The highlight for me though, is Rio De Janeiro Blue, which was also recorded by Randy Crawford, among others.

The album photography shows a more sophisticated side of Nicolette than what we saw on her first and later albums. I mention this only because it reflects the subtle change in style on the CD, and really shows what a lovely lady she was.

I have no affiliation with the military and have no children but I can't help but admire how she did the USO tours back then and released the childrens' album.

I hope buyers will enjoy In the Nick of Time at least half as much as I do. I consider it my favorite of her albums, with the debut coming in a close second.

Free Music Review: An Album For Flavor
Hit: 5 Stars

I'm so happy that they decided to re-release the long out-of-print works of Nicolette. I bought the CD version of this for over 50 dollars on e-bay and at that time, it was a steal.

Despite what some other reviewers said about Nicolette's style changing with this album, I don't see it. Nicolette started out as one of the "troubadours" of the 70's, mixing folk-rock with practically every style there was. She didn't define her style until she went full-blown country with her final 2 albums of the 80's. During the time periods before that, she played with all kinds of musical tastes, as evident on this release.

This album has its high points in the bugle-boy-esque "Daddy", the hit duet "Let Me Go Love" and the fan favorite and often overlooked "Fallen".
