Free Music Review: My introuction to Nightwish!
Hit: 5 Stars

"Nemo" was the first song I heard from Nighwish back in '04. My friend was e-mailing me, and sent me the song. Since then, I bought the album two years later, and still treaure it today. I really don't have favorites, but I agree that this was their breakthrough to American soil. Here are some immortal songs:

Dark Chest of Wonders (Anette's version is amazing!)
Nemo (my conversion song...)
Planet Hell (epic and soundtrack worthy!)
Creek Mary's Blood (very diverse, but touching and stunning!)
The Siren (loved this in Vegas!)
Ghost Love Score (Toumas should compose with a song like this!)

This is the album to convert your friends with, since its more soundtrack like and gripping. I'm glad their touring America a lot more, we need a break from the disasters like Miley Cyrus, Madonna, Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears. This one needs to be checked out, and one you won't forget! NW forever!

Free Music Review: THE Nightwish album
Hit: 5 Stars

If you're just getting into Nightwish, this is the album to get; it's got the same full orchestra, pounding metal power, and high production quality as Dark Passion Play, but on Once you have Tarja, and that makes a big difference.

I think new vocalist Annette sounds fine on DPP, but it's just a more generic sound. No doubt some will view it as more "accessible" than Tarja's operatic vibrato, but I think Tarja's voice - Wagnerian, bombastic, over-the-top - was just a better fit for the Nightwish sound and overall concept.

While I concede that the whole idea of symphonic metal is pretty far removed from most of today's pop, Annette's vocals give Nightwish more of a pop sound, and one closer to other female-fronted acts. With Tarja, they were unique.

So that brings us back to Once. I think it's the best Nightwish album ever. Personal favorites for me are "Wish I Had An Angel," "Planet Hell," "Creek Mary's Blood," and "Ghost Love Score." I can do without "Romanticide," but other than that this is one great album.

Free Music Review: My Favorite Nightwish
Hit: 5 Stars

This is my favorite CD by Nightwish. Extremely talented and a beautiful blend of Metal, Operatic Vocals and a full Symphonic sound. Ghost Love Score is their best track. Awesome vocals! Beautifully done!

Free Music Review: Magic While It Lasted
Hit: 5 Stars

"Once" is the masterpiece of Nightwish while they still had Tarja. What came after from the new Nightwish and Tarja solo is still excellent, but not that powerful and beautiful sound of when they were together. This album has both speedy metal and slower songs, all driven by her voice and the synthesizer. The genius is from Tuomas, the writer and synth player. The songs that are haunting metal symphonic masterpieces are "The Siren" and "Ghost Love Score." This is the best of the best if you like a real soprano, symphonic scoring, and metal rock all in one.

Free Music Review: Great skill in every note...
Hit: 5 Stars

It is really hard for any review to do this band justice. Every song in this CD, from Dark Chest of Wonders to Live to Tell the Tale, is the result of many years of work and skill. Each member, all famous artists in their own right, worked together to create a wonderful, heart beating opera for the dark, cold, side of the human soul. Yet while it has great depth it also seems to have an uplifting effect on my mind and body. The amount of energy, time, and experience that has been poured into this CD shows with every word, every sound, every emotion. I am amazed that it took me this long to find out about this band!
