This is not a hard-core rock-album like some of Reznor's previous works. In fact, the two weakest tracks (in my opinion) are the only two that explore his techno-metal roots. However, if you're looking for a surreal trip into the mind of a genius, then give this a try. It's not his best album, but compared to much of the music offered up by the over-caffeinated, morning-zoo, pop-culture, radio-world at our finger-tips, this is pretty d@mn good! The album increases with strength as it progresses even as it mellows, and by the end, you'll be adrenalized by the power of Reznor's music, tone and lyrics.
And as the Beastie Boys once prominently proclaimed, "you can't fart on that!"

I love this CD. It is an amazing piece of work. It took me a few listens to like it as much as I do now, but my first listen was all it took for me to know how great it is. I just saw them live in CT at Mohegan Sun and the songs they played from this CD just makes me appreciate those songs even more. Head Down is great, Echoplex is awesome, and Discipline is my favorite single from the last 3 major CDs NIN has released (as in I like that song more than both The Hand The Feeds and Survivalism). This CD is a must buy. Once you do, listen to it more than once in one sitting. You'll be happy you did.Free Music Review: Buy This Album

An impressive album by Nine Inch Nails! I was blown away by Trent's decision to allow everyone to download the whole album for free. It's really impressive to see him embracing technology and the way it's changing the music industry instead of trying to fight it. I have been a Nine Inch Nails fan for close to 15 years now and because of his consideration of his fans by releasing this album for free to us, I decided to purchase the physical CD of the Slip to show my support. So I encourage everyone: be a good fan and support the artist, especially since this artist is trying to help his own fans!Free Music Review: Another NIN masterpiece...

I was a little disappointed with Year Zero, but not with The Slip, which I think is their best since, and on par with "With Teeth." Tracks like "Discipline" return to the pop sensibility of PHM, "Lights in the Sky" is a moving ballad, "Corona Radiata" a harrowing Fragile-esque instrumental which segues into another catchy instrumental "The Four of Us Are Dying." Here is my order as of now:

I have enjoy NIN for some time now...i did not like(the fragile)era...but was very surprised when WITH TEETH came out, although YEAR ZERO was more impressive... it seems Trent for right now seems to be on a non-stop creative high... GHOSTS and THE SLIP are equally impressive a catalogue and i was thrilled to recieve from NIN.COM for free... Aside from music Trent is saying and doing some very powerfull things... whether you get this from here or there, get it and listen... our freedom is about to fade... CHAHTA SIA HOKE
