Free Music Notes for The Day The World Went AwayFree Music Review: The Day Musical Artistry Returned Hit: 5 Stars
In the previous reviews, I was revolted by the fact that some people managed to call this CD a waste of money. Excuse me, but how exactly is it a waste of money? Sure 2 of the 3 songs are on The Fragile, but TDTWWA (quiet) alone is a reason to purchase this CD. Anyways, I'd like to see those other reviewers find something else of equal value for 3.99! Living in today's age of...music download programs, you should feel obliged to spend the money. Talented musicians such as Trent should be the ones rewarded rather than the other 90% of bands out there featured on MTV. Im not saying this CD is the most spectacular relase ever, but its definitely worth the price. Weakest Track: TDTWWA (original) Don't get me wrong, its a great song. However, the static in the guitars and other background noises are perhaps providing a distraction or taking away from the beauty and melody in this moving piece of music. Overall, it just lacks organization compared to track 3. Strongest Track: TDTWWA (quiet) This is without a doubt the treat of Halo 13. The haunting lyrics blended with Trent's touching piano melody creates perhaps one of the most moving ballads i have ever heard in my life. TDTWWA is a song that will grow on a person with each excessive listen. Using his past musical influences and experiences, Trent creates a masterpiece unmistakenly overlooked by today's society of commercialism. He is one of the most original artists of our time and will be remembered more than just the flavour of the week bands for many years to come. A great introduction to the double album titled "The Fragile".
Free Music Review: It takes listening.... Hit: 5 Stars
To be honest, the real cool thing do is slag off this single, but being as objective as a fan can be this is quite an excellent single. Initially upon first hearing TDTWWA, I was a little disappointed, but it really grew on me as I listened, like most Reznor, its the little subtle sounds and loops that draw you in amoungst the cacophony, angst and hatred. The 'quiet' mix again is Reznor going from what we've come to expect, sadness and subtly, to sudden cranial grinding guitars. Starf##kers Inc. well I'm still trying to listen to this, it could be a few different bands really, other than Reznors voice, lyrically its Trent stereotypically, hating all those who've, f##ked him over and used him for attention, you wonder why he didn't just call this track .... '' Antichrist SuperStarF##ker'' .... it feels obviously directed. Its not breakthrought sonically, its not fantastically different, just be happy he's back doing what he does best Hating Artistically. Buy This Single!!!
Free Music Review: great sounding new music from the new album Hit: 5 Stars
This Cd features the first single from the upcoming Nine inch nails album "The Fragile". The first song is "The day the world went away". This song starts out quite and then turns into a loud guitar. It is quite again and you can here Trents voice sending shivers down your spine. The loud guitar comes on again. This song is a interesting track and a great way to start out new NIN. The second song is "Starf*%&**s", which is classic NIN. It is hard, abrasive and has lots of drums. Listen very carfully as Trent talks about the users of the entertainment industry. The last song is a a different version of "The day the world went away". I think is as good or better then the first version. There is no guitar and you can here a piano thoughout the song. A nice song to drift into to sleep. Beautifully sung. This single is a nice peak into want Trent will bring us very soon with "The Fragile". Can not what for the album!
Free Music Review: More of the same from Reznor Hit: 5 Stars
Now , more of the same does not imply a negative. "The Day The World Went Away" shuttles with a throbbing power and is a welcome extension of Reznor's talent. (though hopefully it is not indicative of the rest of The Fragile) The Second Track : the "radio-friendly" 'Star F(*&kers Inc.' , with warped vocals and a hissingly venomous throwback to Marilyn Manson and his vulgar attempts at fame, kicks the single into high gear. "Star F(*&kers Inc."shines with the same attitude and power that drove all of the "Broken" EP and the "Closer to God" CD. Finally , the "qiuet" version of "The Day..." tones down the noisy guitar into Reznor vocalizing the sound of the beat. The incessant "Na Na Na Na" may remind some of the background vocals Trent did for Bowie's "I'm Afraid of Americans" remix. Maestro , i say , right on. Just give us more of the same , Mr. Reznor.
Free Music Review: TRENT = GOD Hit: 5 Stars
OMG... the first time I listened to this I thought the TDTWWA tracks sucked @$$ and that the other track (wink wink) was much better... now I realise it's the opposite. Although the Starf**kers track starts off good, it's WAAAAY too long and too repetitive. Wheras I realised on my twenty-third listening of TDTWWA that it's awesome in the fact that, as someone said, it's very airy... it has a very spacey feel, probably because it has no percussion in it. Only Trent could come up with the idea of using a ukulele in his song. The remix is really good, too... I like the vocals on it better than the original. Awesome.I'd like to add that I heard the premeire of WITT on WFNX in Boston... I wish that was included on this/another single, too, although I heard it's gonna be released seperately in mid-October. The Fragile's gonna rule. Fred Durst listened to is and said "it's really cool... if you like Nails." Well, I LOVE Nails, so...
