Free Music Review: "Year Zero" + One

"Y34RZ3R0R3M1X3D" ("Year Zero Remixed") isn't the standard, disjointed NIN remix album. "Y34RZ3R0R3M1X3D" stands on its own as an album and work of art. These aren't simply reinterpretations--what we have here is an expansion and refinement of the "Year Zero" concept. There are fewer "funk" beats and more soundscapes. Is it a sin to say that it's more fun than the original "Year Zero" release?
The decision to release it with a DVD of sound files for every track was a breakthrough for a major record company. It will be interesting to see where the future takes Reznor and his online army of remixers. If you'd like to see what people have actually done with the files, search online for the "Limitless Potential Open Source Remixes," a collection of the best of over 200 remixes.

I have been a huge NIN Fan for years. And I always worry that NIN is going to start putting out bad music. I mean how long can one man be so good. But it has not happened yet. This is the best remix album yet. I feel it is just as good as a non remix album. And the fact that he has made the tracks available for remixing is a sing of a true artist. I believe greatly in the idea of free media(free as in open source). As a Linux uses it is great to see other types of media other then just software becoming open source.Free Music Review: REMIX

This album is really catchy in comparison the original year zero. You could almost even call it "dancable" at some places. Overall, lots of fun, great diversity of sounds. The original album kinda just sounds like Trent Reznor reading out of his journal, but these remixes are really well put together, not monotonous. Unless Trent starts using drugs again, we will never get another Downward Spiral or even Fragile, but overall, great fun for everyone!Free Music Review: Trent is not affraid

First off the cd is fantastic. Not a bad track on it. I think that at the end of track 5 the do the downward spiral theme for a second..
Anyway if you don't like the remixes, well he gave you a dvd to make your own damn mix. So you put your money where you mouth is.. and if you can;t do better then shut up.
To see an Artist completely open up his music and self to be remade like lego's is amazing. I gave this one 5 out of 5

track # 1 .... is crap, #2 this is possibly the best of the album, #3 makes me want to wear leather, #4 sound like nu-wave, #5 is good, #6 takes me back to the (97) rollin days, #7 very nice, #8 f#CKIN AWESOME, #9 more leather sex, #10 nice 80's vibe, #11 spaced-out glitch/i love it, #12 is truly a masterpiece, #13 great feel, #14 more 80's vibe. i give it 4.5 stars.... hit me up killerblack on myspc.
