Free Music Notes for Will the Circle Be Unbroken (30th Anniversary Edition)Free Music Review: Premo Bluegrass Hit: 5 Stars
For those who have never lived in an area of the country where Bluegrass Music is available on the radio - AM or FM - or in Clubs, this album provides a proper introduction to the genre. First time listeners will hear giants of the genre and can move forward to original recordings by the "old-timers" engaged by the NGDB to complete this album. A simple step up would be to the recordings of the "Seldom Scene" with John Duffy. From there, you can move into the recordings of Bill Monroe, Jim & Jessie, Don Reno and Red Smiley, Dry Branch Fire Squad, The Country Gentlemen and so many others. If you like the album under discussion you will enjoy Bluegrass and you have a plethora of albums to enjoy.
Free Music Review: Same as it ever was.... Hit: 5 Stars
There aren't words to express the importance that this set of albums had to me back in '72. Even though I grew up in Virginia, I grew up listening to rock and R&B (not that there's anything wrong with that) and had precious little contact with this wonderful, heartfelt music that was born in my backyard. This cross-cultural goldmine filled my living room with real people playing real music. It turned my head around and I've played some form of this wonderful stuff for the last 30 years. Thanks for remastering an American classic. If you liked "O Brother..." you'll love this set.
Free Music Review: An Incredible Collection of Music Hit: 5 Stars
I am a relatively young music listener at age 34. Never having known about this recording of 30 years ago, I am delighted with this remastered masterpiece. I grew up with my dad listening to this music. I have always loved the old country and bluegrass music. It's refreshing to know that it is coming back into style. And thank God for the record executives of the early 70's, willing to take a chance on a recording in which there was some uncertainty of records sales or target markets. What happen to those days where the music mattered?
Free Music Review: Timeless music formes a new circle with a lasting legacy Hit: 5 Stars
This is the start of a classic series of bluegrass music that still sounds great and is a piece of music history. The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, a bunch longhaired West Coast boys, talked some very talented Bluegrass musicians into a recording secession. The results were an exchange of ideas and sounds that have endured for over 30 years and spawned two other CDs. The two CDs contain 42 tracks of timeless classic bluegrass and some talk between the artists. There are no bad tracks as the music, the artist and the enjoyment is timeless.
