Free Music Notes for Will the Circle Be Unbroken (30th Anniversary Edition)Free Music Review: Always Hit: 5 Stars
Another album I grew up on. I think that my parents must have had this on loop even when I was still in the womb - I can just listen to it over and over - no problem.
The interactions between some of these old greats are just wonderful. Particularly, I adore Doc Watson. Dad used to take me out as a kid to see him. I remember falling asleep in a club (I think in Rhode Island) watching this old man singing away the hymns of my childhood with neon beer signs all around. Lucky me!
Free Music Review: A piece of history Hit: 5 Stars
I first purchased this album on in 1974 or there about. I recently re-purchased it on CD. It is as good today as it was then, maybe better. The music is breathtaking in it's straight forward simplicity and unadorned honesty. This is one if those albums that just happened at the right place and time. Sadly, so many of the folks on the album are no longer with us. This should be required listening for all the "young country" stars of today. Country music was never better than this.

You can't get better than this for mixing the old and the new Bluegrass music. I have the original LP and it is plum wore out. I was Pleased as a Birthday party when this CD came out. I expect everyone who knows and has had the original will buy this CD. Maybe you would like to hear what a musician thinks and talks about between takes. This does it in spades. I don't care what kind of music you like, just the behind the scenes dialog is worth the money.
Free Music Review: A Definite Classic Hit: 5 Stars
If you like good bluegrass/country/folk music, and not that watered down "Michael Row the Boat Ashore" crap or overproduced country dreck of today, this is an album you MUST own. I love hearing the chatter between songs. I LOVE Doc Watson's "Tennessee Stud," and Mother Maybelle's "Keep on the Sunny Side." Listening to "Foggy Mtn. Breakdown" on Disc 2 will make you wish someone was chasing you! Other highlights are "Dark as a Dungeon" and, of course the finale.
Free Music Review: I have waited years for this . . . Hit: 5 Stars
I have missed this album so much. I haven't listened to it since we relegated the old turntable to the bottom shelf of the entertainment center and began using the top of it as another place to store CDs. Just listening to the samples here almost brought a tear. This music is well done and it is performed by both new and old masters of bluegrass. I'm going to also order a Nickel Creek album. They seem to be the new carriers of the NGDB torch.
