This set includes 57 minutes on the first disc and 70+ minutes on the second. Quality is superb. Selections are all at the very least very good and are most often better with many, many performances that are outstanding. Timeless stuff, every track is close to perfection and the level of musicianship so good it makes my eyes water. Notes are minimal but include good (if not historical) photos. How did I miss this in 1972?Free Music Review: The only album of this type that I own.

Fans of real country and bluegrass don't have to be told, but this is a recording that -everyone- should hear: Virtuosic, but never at the expense of its solid roots; and historic without ever being anything less than high-energy entertainment. Tell your 'heavy metal' and 'alternative'friends, they'll thank you for it. If you enjoy country music, this one will knock your socks off. Thank goodness these "long haired" boys who called themselves the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band had the idea to make this album 30 years ago. They are super musicians and blended in with the legends such as Mother Maybelle, Roy Acuff, Merle Travis, Lester Flatt and so many others to produce some great music and help preserve musical history.Free Music Review: home again in my heart

I really enjoy how The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band is able to mix Classic Country with Bluegrass and constantly come up with hit after hit after hit. If you're a fan of them then I don't have to tell. If you're not, and enjoy this type of music you will appreciate this double CD. Some of my favorite songs include: Tennessee Stud & Pins And Needles (In My Heart). Way back in 1974 three of us drove 13,500 miles in two months of touring and camping, and we played this album every day. Several times. And I can't get the music out of my head! So, buy it and listen to it at your own risk. You have been warned. "Keep on the sunny side...always on the sunny side...keep on the sunny side of life..." Help, I'm going crazy!
