Just got Hip to this New Song Artist. About 2006 heard her for the first time and got hooked. Her voice is some kind of Smooth thats not common lately. I had been listening to her for about a year. When I found a Bio on her was very surprised to read Her Father is Ravvi Shankar.
Her voice and style Just makes me Drift into a dreamy mood.

Once more, I find it amazing how you put a cute girl behind the microphone, let her breathe in a supposed sexy and sultry voice some superficial words and how massive success comes.
Even worse, the music is not pop music, but muzak, and they absurdly call this jazz !

Norah Jones has one of the most beautifully melodic voices of modern music, able to just come into your homes and your hearts and warm your soul. I feel that's the best way to describe the feeling you get when listening to her music...warming. Pulling similarities to the greats like Billy Holiday, Norah has a sound that, while all her own, feels familiar, and not that `oh god not again' kind of familiar but that `it's nice to be home' kind of familiar. It's about time that some new talent emulates the old talent of artist now past.
On beautiful tracks like the title song `Come Away With Me' as well as the opener `Don't Know Why' and the closer (and my personal favorite) `The Nearness of You', Norah gives the listener every `right' reason to listen to her again and again. Norah is able to take classic's by Hank Williams and Hoagy Carmichael and make them all her own, adding layers to each track of class and sincerity. Norah rightfully won multiple Grammy's for this album and was shotgun blasted into superstardom, and she's one star that I'm glad hasn't burnt-out.

Wonderful CD!!! Her soft, yet forceful voice sets the tone for all of her songs...I play it all the time, and sing along, in spite of my horrid singing voice.
