At the age of 22, Norah Jones saw herself being hailed as one of the most inspiring new artist to come along in 2002. Her ''Come Away With Me'' album scored millions of record sales, then followed by numerous awards, including several Grammy Awards. ''Come Away With Me'' had all the right ingredients to become a sure hit-the moody sound, lovely piano playing and a stricking voice to accompany it all. Indeed a star was born.
The follow-up is always a tough one. People will expect more of the same thing and perhaps something better. ''Feels Like Home'' continues the patterm set by ''Come Away With Me. ''Feels Like Home'' sounds just as fresh and gentle as her former record. Norah Jones and her band have swifted towards an more ''Blues/country'' inspired sound and it works extremely well alongside Norah Jones vocals
The country sound is most evident on the Dolly Parton duet ''Creppin' In'', a cathcy and enjoyable song. ''Sunrise is another gem and one of the best songs on the album. ''Toes'' is a droll song with its brezzy and dreamy sound. ''Canival Town'' displays Norah Jones and The Handsome Band wholesome sound. '' The Prettiest Thing'' is a sure winner and among my absolute faves on ''Feels Like Home''. ''Humble Me'' and ''In The Morning'' are also worth a mention. Both are seductive within your fist listen and they are sure to become faves among many listeners.
''Don't Miss You At All'' contains the music from Duke Ellingtons' ''Melancholia'', while Norah Jones has re-written the lyrics to the song. Using only the piano and a sampling from ''Melancholia'', the song is easily one of the best songs on ''Feels Like Home''.
If you enjoyed ''Come Away With Me'', you might like ''Feels Like Home'' as well. If you are looking for something completely different than ''Come Away with Me'' you won't find it. Innovate and groundbeaking music it isn't, however if you enjoy some mellow music every now and then ''Feel Like Home'' is a good buy.
