Free Music Review: a true talent spreads her wings and takes flight
Hit: 5 Stars

I have heard Norah's earlier releases, yeah, the stuff that won all the grammy awards, and...yeah, she's great. But this is the first release stocked with her own songs, and with the sound quality that her music merits. In this recording I hear a talent who comes from the place where the real stuff comes from. She will grow and she will change and she will mature, and I will always be listening. And thank you Blue Note, this is an audiophile recording, or at least an A-, which puts it in the top 10% of CDs. When I heard this I bought all her earlier stuff, and was crushed to discover that to my ears it is unlistenable on sound quality alone. Thank you Norah for this release, I hope your technical people will continue to treat your music right in the future. Norah plays some classics on the earlier releases, and sure they're great songs, but her own songs in her own voice shine dark and sweet and subtle here. I will always think of this as Norah's first album.

Free Music Review: Love it!
Hit: 5 Stars

I have all of Norah Jones CDs and I love them all. Some people say that all of her songs sound the same. I agree that they are similar, she did too in a recent interview, but I just love the soothing sound of her voice. I like to paint as a hobby and her music is wonderful for that. It's also good to do yoga to. On this new CD, Not Too Late, I think she did extend herself and try some new sounds. There is one song that really reminds me of a New Orleans sound. The only thing I wasn't quite happy with was that I bought the CD from Amazon by an advanced purchase, before the CD came out. I thought I would save money that way, but I saw the same price in the stores and I got my CD a week after it had been out in stores. I don't know why it took so long to be delivered. I probably won't do any advance purchases in the future. Even so, I am very happy with this CD, I highly recommend it, and I also feel that Amazon is still a good place to buy from.

Free Music Review: WERE YOU EXPECTING PAT BENATAR?
Hit: 5 Stars

I'm a little bewildered by all the reviews stating how "awful", "boring",
"depressing" and "disapppointing" this CD is. I'm a fan of Norah, not a
fanatic, but I really enjoy her music. I liked her first CD, and I've
enjoyed the subsequent ones as well. This one is what I expected--good,
melodic songs performed well without a trace of overkill. And contrary
to many opinions here, I do see artistic growth. Each of her albums (and
I include the Little Willies CD too) has a little bit of a different vibe
than the one before. Sometimes I think that people dislike Norah more
for what she ISN'T than for what she is. For my money, she is one of the
best and most musical performers out there. If you're a fan, I'd advise
you to listen to the sound clips (on Amazon or elsewhere) and decide for
yourself. Personally, I like it a lot!

Free Music Review: Norah Does It Again
Hit: 5 Stars

I went for the deluxe version and was not in the least disappointed with the extra footage and behinds-the-scenes stuff. I'm so glad to see Norah writing more of her own songs. Whatever she does is flawless, sultry, gorgeous, inspired...she surrounds herself with such a team of amazing musicians and seems to hold it all together with such poise and grace. "Sinkin' Soon" has amazing groove. "Rosie's Lullaby" is rhythmic and intense. Norah has both serious and playful, fun stuff going on. Mellow, sexy, and really intriguing. Haven't sunk my teeth into it fully yet, but am very happy with this latest acquisition to my music collection, and hats of Norah and her posse. Love the animation on the video "Thinking of You"...find Norah such a refreshing and intriguing voice and on the scene...lots of be discovered under each leaf of these new offerings...

Free Music Review: Misunderstood
Hit: 5 Stars

I read several negative reviews about this CD and wasn't sure if I should buy it or not, but I love Norah and decided to give it a shot. The music is incredible and the lyrics, well, a little different but I feel they go great with the music. On Not too Late, Norah expands her musical sound and I believe she did that by taking us to a place we have not been before. For most of the negative comments I would have to say that they were perhaps expecting this new CD to be a copy of the first or second, which I suspect comes from pop jazz lovers. This CD is different and if you are looking for a new CD with the same sound as before you will be disappointed, but if are a true Norah fan and are willing to listen with an open ear then I promise you will not be disappointed.
