Free Music Notes for Not Too LateFree Music Review: Great Job Norah! Hit: 5 Stars
I've had the new cd for a about a week now (ordered pre-release), and I LOVE it!
Mind you, I don't absolutely love every single song on the album, but that's OK; it's rare when that happens, although, I do love all the songs on Norah's first two CDs and The Little Willies album.
What I especially love on this latest album is the use of horns and cellos...VERY cool!
My favorite songs from Not Too Late include:
-Rosie's Lullaby
-Until the End
-Not Too Late
-Wish I Could
-Be My Somebody
Each song on this album tells a story, so I like to listen several times to get the lyrics and understand what the song is all about.
Give it a listen, you'll like it too! :)
Free Music Review: These negative reviews have got to stop! Hit: 5 Stars
I really don't see why people are giving this cd poor reviews. Some are saying it's snooze music? Oh really? If you want a rock album try Led Zeppelin or Lil' Richard. Some are saying it's depressing? Go get your pill bottle refilled, because it aint the album... The album is beatiful. Norah has written some very good songs here. It has more of an intimate feel to me than her other albums, because you really get to envelope into more personal sincere lyrics. Her voice as always is it's own, and the instrumentation is sparse for the most part and never overdone. I bought the deluxe edition and got the dvd with it showing that she is no studio fix. Meaning that her voice and tone, along with instrumentation, are as good as you hear on this album.
Free Music Review: Like a sip of fine spirit Hit: 5 Stars
Think of the feeling when you take a sip of a fine Cognac! You feel the warmth touch every part of you from the inside and the body tingles with joy. "Track 6: Thinking About You" does exactly that and is your reason to buy this album. What Norah Jones had done with "Come away with me" and her other Grammy winning classics, she now does with "Thinking about you". She could have done a 100 things with that melody that would only make it less pure. As always, she decides to keep it simple with her angelic vocals and light accompaniments. This song will be a classic.
I bought this album as a gift for my wife. It worked! ;-) "Track 2: Sinking Soon" is her favorite though.
Free Music Review: Good Satire... Hit: 5 Stars
I am very pleased with this cd. The sound is more like her first cd rather than her second. It sounds like she has gotten back to more of a jazz foundation rather than the fusion of country, pop, etc. in her second album (which I still love both).
About "My Dear Country" as a knock on the President, the lyrics don't say that at all. I think it is clever satire that is directed towards ALL POLITICIANS. She never singles out the Predisent. I think it's funny. As for the song "Sinkin' Ship", again Norah Jones never says anything about politics.
I recommend it because Norah Jones is an amazing artist and the music is awesome. Good Quality Jazz.
Free Music Review: PURE SOUL AND BLUES!!! NORAH, YOU DID IT GREAT!! Hit: 5 Stars
If you love these "black" rhythms (soul, blues, country), you will enjoy this cd; this album is very delightful, sensitive, beautiful, introspective... and personal; you can hear this album in a midnight show, with candle lights, with somebody who's in love with you in a romantic place inside and the effect will be magic... Pure "Plastic Soul, Man" (as Paul McCartney said on "Beatles Anthology 2"), I bought this album and I hearded it many times without get bored... It's symply marvelous, a wonderful piece of Norah's work.
Enjoy the piano, enjoy the acoustic guitars, enjoy the drums, enjoy Norah's voice...ENJOY ALL!!!
