Free Music Review: Good mix of songs with a few exceptions
Hit: 4 Stars

This is an accurate song selection during the winter of 2005. For the most part the songs were good.

U2 - Vertigo: This is a good comeback song for U2. A

Gwen Stefani - What You Waiting For?: This is a great song by Gwen Stefani one of the best on this CD A+

Lindsay Lohan - Rumors: Too bad she is a mess in the tabloids and also a one hit wonder but at least this song is good. A

Snoop Dogg - Drop It Like It's Hot: This is a good song by Snoop. B+

Destiny's Child - Soldier: This was a good song by Destiny's Child. Was popular on the airlwaves. A-

Ashanti - Only U: This is a good song by her with a great beat. B+

Chingy - Balla Baby: This is an ok song. B-

John Legend - Used To Love U: This is a good song. B+

Nelly & Tim McGraw - Over & Over: This is a duo I would not except but this song is a good combination. A-

Frankie J - Obsession: This is an average song no complaints. B-

Omarion - O: This song was not good one of two songs I skip on this CD. F

Howie Day - Collide: This is a good song by Howie. A-

Hoobastank - Disappear: I am not a Hoobastank fan but this is my favorite by them. B

Chevelle - Vitamin R: This is a good song by Chevelle. B+

Three Days Grace - Home: Another good rock song. B+

Lenny Kravitz - Lady: It is an alright song but not as good as classic Lenny. B-

Good Charlotte - I Just Wanna Live: This is a good song by this band one of my favorites. A

Frickin' A - Jessie's Girl: This is a good remake not as good as the original but still good. A-

Skye Sweetnam - Tangled Up In Me: This is a good song not great but not bad. B-

Keith Urban - You're My Better Half: Leave this song on NOW That's What I Call Country, this song was totally out of place on this CD nor was it good. F

Free Music Review: Vol. 18
Hit: 4 Stars

'Now! 18' seems to have picked up the pace a bit, delivering quite a bit of great tracks. 2004 must have been a good year, and I'm pleased to say that the majority of this album shows that is true. Starting with U2's smash hit 'Vertigo' which made me a believer again. Gwen also spices things up with her first solo track, and even though I don't get the split beings that her songs all sound as if they were on a No Doubt album, she still is amazing. Lindsay makes her debut, and 'Rumors' while not as good as some of her other tracks it's still a decent song, good club song.

Speaking of good club songs, um, let me just say that Ashanti kicks @$$ and her song 'Only U' is no exception, and serves as her best song yet. She blazes the comp, beating out Destiny's Child (although 'Soldier' is a great song) and Lindsay for best female vocal track.

Chingy is strong with 'Balla Baby' and Nelly and Tim McGraw are perfect together (I love anything Tim touches) but it's Snoop and Pharell who take the crown for best rap song period. 'Drop it like it's Hot' is brilliant and never gets old!

Omarion leaves B2K for better things, and 'O', even though it's total cliche, is actually really really good. The vibe, the beats and even his voice are all top notch here. Much better than Frankie J's weak 'Obsession'.

The rock selection is decent. Three Days Grace again make a lasting impression, but Chevelle takes the crown for best rock track here, for 'Vitamin R' is freakin' awesome! Skye Sweetnam delivers a nice track, and even though I'm not a huge fan of 'My Better Half' I still gave groove to it every once in a while. The best track though by far is John Legends 'Used to Love U' which is just brilliant in everyway. His voice is silky smooth and the lyrics are amazing. This is one of the better 'Now!' disc's and is sure to please.

Free Music Review: NOW 19 Predictions
Hit: 4 Stars

NOW 18 had a few overplayed songs like "Obsession," "Collide," "Vertigo," "Drop it like it's Hot," and a lot more. Here's what I think/hope NOW 19 will look like:

1. 50 Cent "Candy Shop"
2. Gwen Stefani "Hollaback Girl.
3. Black Eyed Peas "DON'T PHUNK WITH MY HEART"
4. Pretty Ricky "Grind With Me"
5. Brooke Valentine "Girlfight"
6. Pussycat Dolls "Don't Cha"
7. Ying Yang Twins "Wait"
8. John Legend "Ordinary People"
9. Nelly "N Dey Say"
10. Marcos Hernandez "If You Were Mine"
11. Marques Houston "All Because Of You"
12. Backstreet Boys "Incomplete"
13. Lifehouse "You and Me"
14. Chevelle "The Clincher"
15. Life of Agony "Love To Let You Down"
16. Good Charlotte "We Believe"
17. 3 Doors Down "Behind Those Eyes"
18. Gretchen Wilson "Homewrecker"
19. Cowboy Troy "I Play Chicken With The Train"
20. Keith Urban "Making Memories Of Us"

I think that the NOW series is starting to go down the drain, but if NOW 19 looks anywhere even close to this, I think that there is still hope for this long running music series.

Free Music Review: Hot album! U2, Gwen Stefani, Snoop and others on this one!
Hit: 4 Stars

They really went for a party here! U2 kicks off Now 18 with a bang, then Gwen Stefani, Linsday Lohan and Snoop keep that party atmosphere moving! I like Ashanti's Only U, though they didn't put the single out at the right time when Destiny's Child's Lose My Breath was a hit. Omarion sounds nice here with O, a very different kind of ballad than what we're used to hearing. Another surprise is Frickin A's surprisingly good remake of Rick Springfield's 1981 hit Jessie's Girl. Maybe a way to get the '80s crowd not into today's sounds onto this album. They give Lenny Kravitz's rocking Lady some competition here. The song I don't like is Skye Sweetnam's song--it sounds like a reject from Avril Lavigne's album, and she blatantly sounds like her during the first verse, with the aggressiveness. This sounds better than the last 3 Now albums, but with a lot more driving attitude to back it up! That Nelly/Tim McGraw song still sounds good and still gets played a lot. 18 Now albums in 7 years in America. Can't wait to hear the 20th later this fall!
