Free Music Review: A treasure-trove of loud, wonderfully nasty masterpieces!

It was a great idea for someone to finally release the famous "Nuggets" garage-punk compilation in its original form (same tracks/artists) on a single CD. Rhino, being the good-hearted folks they normally are, took the concept a step further, compiling 3 addl. 70 minute-plus CDs full of garage-punk classics, adding the original "Nuggets", and putting them together in the "Nuggets" box-set. If I could give six or seven stars to this box-set, this would certainly deserve it. While there may be some quibbles about assorted "essential" garage-punk classics which didn't make the collection (where's "96 Tears"?), the collection has enough gems to make this box set extremely worthwhile. This is the REAL punk rock, served up loud, nasty, and crude by white suburban teenagers trying their darndest to sound like jaded bluesmen. If you have doubts, check out the track list. Nobody who calls themself a rock fan can be without this!!!
