Free Music Notes for Kill Bill: Volume 1Free Music Review: Another awesome soundtrack ! Hit: 5 Stars
I have listened and grown to love the eclectic compilations known as Quentin Tarentino's movie soundtracks. I am total amorous of the discs for Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction, and when I heard the "Kill Bill Vol. 1" soundtrack, I once again in love. Soundtracks can make a movie that much better, and no one knows how to pick the selected pieces like QT. From the opening song, "Bang Bang", sung by Nancy Sinatra, who is more famous for "These boots were made for walking" than this unknown recording, to "Don't let me be misunderstood" which is somewhat a lost disco classic. To "Twisted Nerve", which is whistling made cool. Quite a difference in music genres there, and that isn't where it ends. Highly entertaining and a feast for a true music fans ears, "Kill Bill Vol. 1" is a soundtrack worthy of a purchase.
Free Music Review: Fantastic Piece of Work Hit: 5 Stars
I picked up this soundtrack 2 days after I saw the film and was immediately impressed. Every piece that was selected brought me back to the portion of the film from which it was from. Like all of Tarrantino's previous soundtracks, this piece fully lived up to the movie. One of my favorite pieces is the Charlie Feather's track. It was a breath of fresh air to hear some Rockabilly used in a mainstream movie. Flower of Carnage is a hauntingly beautiful piece, that seems to underlay the violence of the scene that it is used in. I was pleasently suprised with Zamfir's piece, never really having been a fan of his work in the past. I would recommend this album to anyone who wnats to hear music that doesn't fit the conventional mold of soundtracks that hollywood pushes out
Free Music Review: Something to Stop and Think About, Maybe Hit: 5 Stars
I love this soundtrack; think it's one of the best albums I've bought in ages... but what with the number of songs that were in the movie or affiliated with the movie, or whatever, that AREN'T on the disc... I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that maybe what QT and his posse are planning is to release TWO volumes of music for volume 1 of the movie (sort of similiar to what they did for the movie "8 Mile," the first disc being songs inspired by the movie, the second being the songs actually IN the movie), and then two volumes of music for volume 2.It's a shot in the dark, but a possible one. I for sure would pay for another volume similiar to this collection. It's top notch, like pretty much everything else in the Tarantinoverse. :)
Free Music Review: saw movie twice...had to get the music Hit: 5 Stars
whoa...for me the movie really has to have a visual and emotional connection for me to see it twice in hopes of evoking that same "lump in the throat" feeling...success it was great even the second time and i was able to pay attention to the visual details which made me think how refreshing to see something different but not outrageous that it would scare away the not so "film affeciendo" types..ok spelling might be off on that one..but...when i listen to the CD it moves me to the visual scenes in my memories of Oren...and her fateful moment the music is a compilation of import classics i had never heard and so it was nice for the original artists to get their work recognized a second time
Free Music Review: Correction plus Question Hit: 5 Stars
I have yet to purchase this soundtrack, but upon reading reviews, I thought something needed clarification. One reviewer remarked that "The Lonely Shepherd," included on the soundtrack, is the song behind Uma picking the sword. I listened to the track and guarantee this person is mistaken. The song as Uma picks the sword is soft hammond organ with a beautiful soprano over the top, and it has been haunting me since I saw the film (three times). I want to know what this song is and if it is on the soundtrack before I purchase it, so if anyone can answer, please post a review. It is certainly not "The Lonely Shepherd" but I need to know what it IS and whether or not it's on the CD.
