Free Music Notes for Dig Out Your SoulFree Music Review: Certainly exceeded my expectations Hit: 5 Stars
This is a great album. In my opinion it has a much better sound than their last album Don't Believe the Truth. I was a tad dissappointed with their last effort, but this new record holds up nicely with the bands other classic albums; Whats the Story, Definitely Maybe, and The Masterplan.
"I'm Outta Time" and "Falling Down" will certainly go down as two more classic Oasis tracks in my books. All the other songs really rock as well and have really grown on me after only a few listens. And it's too bad the chemical brothers version of "Falling Down" was not included as a bonus song on this album because that is a great sounding track as well. It's found on the Lightning single though.
Thank you Noel, Liam, et al. for sticking around and I hope you make some more quality music for us all in the future. Really satisfied with this album, go get it if you havn't yet.
Free Music Review: Grab A Shovel... Hit: 5 Stars
This is the album I have been waiting for, for three years. Ever since 2005's incredible Don't Believe The Truth I have been eagerly anticipating where the Manchester boys would venture next. I am a huge Oasis fan, I own every album, single, import, DVD, and book. I love their music but I can criticize, Standing On The Shoulder of Giants and Heathen Chemistry both had some missteps but overall, song for song I think they are one of, if not the greatest rock and roll band currently working.
I'll keep this brief, Dig Out Your Soul is an absolutely amazing album. Stunning from beginning to end. The feeling I got as I listened to it for the first time can only be described as pure pleasure, I had no doubts it would be good, but this...to find my buried soul being lifted from the dirt, I did not expect.
Free Music Review: Dig Out Your Soul - Great! Hit: 5 Stars
This is the first album for me by Oasis, although I have read some about them recently. I love this album. It has great layering, melodies, harmonies, great bass and guitar work. I have played this over and over since buying it a few days ago. It has a sense of The Beatles underlying the music, and perhaps that is one reason I like it. However I think they are distinct and creative and certainly not a "cover". I like all the songs, but if I had to choose would choose my favorites as those written by Noel. I especially like the songs The Turning and The Shocks of the Lightning. I feel happy when listening to this music and I want to get up and dance; I can't sit still. This music speaks to my soul and I like the title of the album because this evokes something in me.
Free Music Review: they've BEEN back, this is just the best in a while Hit: 5 Stars
I come from the side of fans that think 2005's Don't Believe the Truth was very good, and more the return to form. It was like a stepping stone up to this album. I think it's definitely their best album since (What's the Story) Morning Glory. I think it's funny that the best "critical" review's complaint is that it's not like the old stuff. its so ridiculous, stupid and unfair to expect music like the old types. This is a great album, and a bit of a new direction. The first 5 songs are killer, also Gem's To Be Where There's Life is great. I think the 2nd half isn't as good, but it's still awesome. it's solid. Soldier On works perfectly as a closer. So i suggest buying the album, not just a couple songs, get the album. it works better as a whole.
Free Music Review: Dig Out Your Ears Hit: 5 Stars
Every since Morning Glory I have continued to buy their CDs without finding anything that simply amazed me and stayed in my rotation. This one is different. Every single song gets five stars.
This one also gave me some very strange emotions. For one I am happy for the band. Wierd, I know. I always believed they had the talent to make another recording that was amazing from start to finish. They did. I can picture the fellows in the studio, grown up, enjoying creating these songs, maybe even appreciative for what they have, now that they are old like me. And with this comes the maturity that adds the depth and human experience aspect.
This is great driving music. Think I'll get in the car now...
