Free Music Review: Pink Floyd & Dream Theater?

This is one of several "official bootlegs" that Dream Theater released, which include Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon, Metallica's Master of Puppets, Iron Maiden's Number of the Beast and Deep Purple's Night in Japan. First thing I should note about all these albums is that they are all performed LIVE. For some that is a huge turnoff, as it is for me. However, all of them come across very well. They all try to relive the original with more involved technique at times, but they really don't stray far from the original. Overall, some of the best cover albums I've heard.
For this particular album, I was very pleased with how well they stuck to the original. We all know DT could have probably turned this into a prog-metal masterpiece, but that wasn't their goal here. They recreated the experience. Still, I like the original better, but this is a great version of one of the best selling albums ever. If you can get your hands on a copy for a reasonable price, I would definitely recommend it.
