Free Music Notes for Rise & Fall, Rage & GraceFree Music Review: Consistent Quality Amazes Me Hit: 5 Stars
I have grown up listening to Offspring, from their first self-titled album to now, and I have to say that though their sound has evolved quite a bit from where they started out, every album they've put out has been consistently awesome.
This most recent album has a more produced sound which may take a bit of getting used to, but I found myself loving the album from the first listen. Along with many catchy tunes, it features a few more soulful songs than previous albums, notably Kristy Are You Doing Okay and Fix You. Though these are not the classic style of Offpsring, they are brilliantly written pieces of music, and should not be scorned.
It comes down to the fact that the band writes music for themselves, not to please audiences. I am glad that their music has stayed consistent in quality and that they have avoided the trap of making every album sound the same (I could name other bands here but I won't =P).
Free Music Review: Wow. Is this for real? Hit: 5 Stars
I've been purchasing items from Amazon for the past 8 or so years and have never written a review for anything I have bought. The fact that I felt compelled to write about this album is a testament to how amazing it is. I admit I wasn't blown away by the first listen. It's one of those albums that just get better and better the more you hear it. Without a doubt it has easily more musical depth and emotion than anything the band has ever done. This is The Offspring's best work ever, hands down.
For those of you who complain about the lack of "punk", get real, punk has been dead for a long time. This is just an amazing american rock band making great music. Best album I've heard in years and it definitely wasn't from a band I expected.
Nice work guys.
Free Music Review: Back To Their Best Hit: 5 Stars
I've been a fan of The Offspring since their first album and have watched their music change direction slightly which isn't uncommon for a band who's been around for over 20 years. After Conspiracy Of One and Splinter which were good albums but not as good as previous ones, I was pleasantly surprised that Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace is The Offspring back to their best. In my opinion this is the best album since Americana and possible the best yet.
There isn't a single song that I don't like and not a single song that I feel the need to skip (which is quite unusual for me). The Offspring are back on top and look like they'll be there for many years to come.
Amazing album and it gets better the more you listen to it.
Free Music Review: A solid album. Hit: 5 Stars
This is the best album from the Offspring in a long time. It's right up there with Smash or Ignition as an album I can listen to the whole way through without feeling the urge to skip a track or two. This album was well worth the wait, and after all these years, they still haven't lost it. Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace is a much more solid offering than Splinter.
The album is pretty short, in typical Offspring style, but the fact that listening to it twice is better than listening to most longer albums once, that's hardly a turnoff. If you were ever a fan, this is a must have, and if you haven't listened to the Offspring before, this album is a good place to start.
Free Music Review: Very Good Effort Hit: 5 Stars
Rise & Fall, Rage & Grace is a very good effort put forth by The Offspring. It was a long wait since Splinter and the new album came not a moment too soon, especially with the current vast wasteland that is the music frontier. In my opinion, the best songs are Nothingtown, Hammerhead, and Your're Gonna Go Far, Kid. I replay these songs over and over when they come up on my IPOD. Also, for a change, I think that the slower songs work well. I like Fix You and A Lot Like Me quite a bit. For my tastes, the only song that does not work is Stuff Is Messed Up. With a hit ratio of 12/13, I rate this album very high! Thanks for a great job to Dexter and the guys!!
