Free Music Notes for Tuku MusicFree Music Review: Breathtaking! Hit: 5 Stars
This album was so powerful that I went out and purchased everything I could of "Tuku Music" and just loved it. The translated words of all of Mtukudzi's songs are so powerful and so beautiful. It is "message music" with a bluesy theme. Mtukudzi's gruff voice is in the tradition of great blues singers from John Lee Hooker to Leadbelly. There are few records that you can listen to from beginning to end without getting tired. Here's one that you'll do that with, time and time again.
Free Music Review: The more you listen, the more you like Hit: 5 Stars
At first, I thought that the songs on this record were pleasant, but overlong and repetitive. But I love a recording which proves me wrong upon further listening! Technically, I cannot even say what has caused me to have grown to love these songs so much. They are simply hypnotic, beautiful and exciting. Tuku is a great modern artist.
Free Music Review: Takes you to Africa Hit: 5 Stars
This CD has a calming effect on me whenever I hear it. I feel like I am sitting in Zimbabwe drinking whawha. One or two songs do get a bit repetitive... but on the whole its great. I wish I could understand the lyrics, because apparantly his songs focus on social and economic issues.
Free Music Review: Beatiful, Happy, Fine music with class Hit: 5 Stars
I would recommend this album to any one who appreciates music played as a real sacred art. Also, you will not find an album with a better "vibe." Totally bubbling and happy. The vibe reminds me of Paul Simon's Graceland and Ali Farka Tour with Ry Cooters album.
Free Music Review: Tuku tops Hit: 5 Stars
Oliver triumphs again with this Tuku album because he brings a gravitas to songs which might otherwise be poppy. You can hear the mighty heart of Zimbabwe, despite all the incredible odds, beating strongly. And, you cannot help yourself moving to that beat.
