Free Music Notes for GoldFree Music Review: Best -But Still Missing Some Good Ones.... Hit: 5 Stars
If one compilation is to be had this is the one. Yes, It is missing some pieces along the way. A few tracks that would have been a great addition would have been the following:
I Can't Help It-
Rest Your Love On Me-
The Key-(a great live performance from Unicef)-
Richards Window-
Fly Away-
Candle in the Wind-(from tv special)
Hollywood Nights-(from tv special)
Physical-(the new remix)
Broken Wings-
Best of my Love-(a great dance track)
What If-(a mom for christmas track)
Old Fashioned Man-(Olivia Down Under)
Winter Angel-(Olivia Down Under, Track from the rumour single)
of course the list could go on but considering that Oliva has alot of material that has not seen the light of cd we can hope for that box set that she so deserves.
Here hoping for some Olivia rare tracks to released someday or maybe a full length dance cd that would be the ultimate release.
Free Music Review: A Olivia Newton-John fan is back! Hit: 5 Stars
I always knew that I was a Olivia Newton-John fan but when I bought this CD Gold it was confirmed! An excellent pick of songs from listening to the popular ones to the ones I listened- to. To name a few:If Not For You, Every Face Tells A Story, Something Better To Do. I'm glad the song The Best of Me is on this CD. I love that song! I was happy to hear and see that Livin'In Desperate Times, The Rumour, Totally Hot, and others are on this CD. I forgot that I enjoyed If Not For You, Banks of The Ohio and Let It Shine. I have been a big fan since the mid to early 70's. I have all her albums but on record. Listening to these songs brings back memories and happiness. I know this sounds mushy but these feelings are true. If you are a big Olivia Newton-John fan and want to hear these songs I recommend this CD. This CD doesn't stay in my CD rack. It always get played.
Free Music Review: The fans are right... Hit: 5 Stars
...this is a great collection. Unlike previous collections, this one gathers songs from all eras of Olivia's careers plus some gems. The remastering is great, and Olivia's vocals come out crisp and clear.
What I like about this collection is that it pays attention to her career after 1983, since most collections of her music stop after "Twist of Fate". Here we get the Top 20 song, "Soul Kiss", the ballad "The Best of Me" (with David Foster), which still gets lots of radio airplay here in Canada, and one of Olivia's best and most underrated songs, "The Rumor" which is still as punchy and catchy as it was back in 1988 when radio ignored it.
Even the reprise of the Grease Megamix and the 1998 version of "I Honestly Love You" fits well. A worthy collection for both casual and serious Olivia fans.
Free Music Review: Greatest hits PLUS a hidden treasure!! Hit: 5 Stars
As many others detail, this CD set has Olivia's best known tracks, biggest hits, and some excellent album cuts. But no one else has seemed to notice the SUPER RARE track that must have been added for hard-core Olivia fans like myself.
The last track on the first disk is "Fool Country." This was previously only available as a B-side on a "45" of the single "Magic". It's a song from the movie Xanadu that was left off the soundtrack album, and is appearing on CD for the first time here. It's not a classic, like "Magic" or "Your The One That I Want," but it's fun, interesting and an awesome inclusion for completing collections.
So, I have every single Olivia Newton John album ever released, AND I bought this one too. That's pretty high praise for a greatest hits package!
Free Music Review: Griping aside, the Best Overview On the Market!!! Hit: 5 Stars
I understand what all the griping is about - this collection is far from perfect. There are a few tracks which should have been included - the most glaring omissions being "What is Life", "Changes", "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" and "I Need Love", and there WAS room on the CDs for at least three more tracks, but what these other reviews fail to point out is that they finally got it right - this collection rounds up almost all of Olivia's chart entries, some under-appreciated gems, and the previously unreleased (on an Olivia album) "Fool Country" and "The Best of Me" from David Foster's 1986 Atlantic album. And the collection is 24-bit remastered, to boot. Don't gripe, people. Just listen!!!!!
