Free Music Review: One listen and I fell in love again
Hit: 5 Stars

In a world were mega-star looses perspective in creativity and rely on re-hash samples from the past. Olivia music has always captivated me throughout the years. There has always been something pure and innocent with Olivia singing that takes me through many emotions. In the end... I'm always feeling refreshed. The productions behind Olivia's song has always been very distinctive amongst each other. None of the songs sound similiar to each other.

While this greatest hits packaged has been available throughtout different compilations, the packageing and remastered of each songs are worth owning. My complaints here, is that "Why do we need the Grease megamix?" when all 3 songs are also available here as well. It would have been more suited if there were at least one brand new "upbeat" song here to spark interest beyond her fan-base audience to purchased this cd. The bonus track should have been Dare to Dream (sung at the Olympics)

I can only speculate that like previous Olivia's album. This cd will take off with a good showing then plummet off the chart very quickly. This is due to support from dedicated fans (none-else)

Can't wait for the new "Dance" cd Olivia is working on for 2002.
Hopefully Olivia will show the world that she still has everything it takes to be a megastar... Especially one with real vocal talents.

Free Music Review: The Definitive Olivia
Hit: 5 Stars

Though Olivia Newton-John has released three previous stateside compilations, this is the first to house ALL of her major chart singles, including several that were left off her last package,BACK TO BASICS. With that said, Newton-John's recording history can be divided into two distinct parts--pre-GREASE and post-GREASE. Prior to GREASE, her records had an easy listening/adult comtemporary feel to them, with some utilizing elements of country-pop that placed her squarely into that field of music as well. Such hits as 'I Honestly Love You' and 'If You Love Me(Let Me Know) defined her good-girl image, as well as her proneness to sappy love ballads. That image was shattered with GREASE, which saw her take on a new, less goody-two shoes-- but far more desirable-- role, as a teen idol and sex symbol, and with that her music took a stylistic detour, generally for the better. Her singles during this period were far stronger, particularly 'A Little More Love' and 'Magic'. And while 'Physical'(a song so overplayed that it ultimately lost it's admittedly limited appeal as a guilty pleasure)remains a thorn that she'll never get out of her side, she did manage to follow it up with two, far more solid tunes in 'Heart Attack' and 'Twist Of Fate'. All in all, a very strong representation of the stylistic breadth that Newton-John's music encompassed.

Hit: 5 Stars

In a world where people who sing songs written by others are often derided, it's too easy to look past the obvious talents of a singer like Olivia Newton-John. While she may not have written the words or music, she makes these song hers with her on-the-mark interpretation of the words. This album, since it's all-encompassing with work spanning an entire decade, shows the versatility of the performer. Songs like "Have You Never Been Mellow" are interpreted just right, making the listener heed her advice. "Please Mister Please" makes you want to heed her call to not play selection "E-17" on the jukebox because of all the sad memories the song brings back. And for people of my generation, the songs from "Grease" will always have special meaning as the film came at a time when we were beginning to seek independence. In this collection, you'll hear Olivia go from country to sultry ("A Little More Love") and making it all so convincing. Listening to this album should not only bring back a lot of memories, it will give newfound respect for this artist. If you're mind is open, it's almost impossible not to fall in love with Olivia when you listen to this CD.

Free Music Review: Excellent! My girl Olivia knows how to do it!
Hit: 5 Stars

Olivia Newton John was one of my favorite singers in the late '70s and '80s. I still remember when she had like 7 to 8 hits in a row from 1978 to 1980, just a nonstop run of hits like her competition Donna Summer, Barry Manilow, the Bee Gees and others. This album justifies that. Her country songs of 1973 and 1974 are still fabulous. "Physical" still sounds funky today! "Heart Attack" just gets you dancing! "Deeper Than The Night" I still love! "Twist Of Fate" still sounds good with its aerobic sound 21 years later! "Magic" opened the music of the '80s quite well when it came out in 1980. "Xanadu" still sounds weird, but I'll take it. Her duet with Cliff Richard, "Suddenly", still sounds smooth. The "Grease" movie songs with John Travolta clash the '50s and 1978 so very well within the same songs! Her willingness to take chances were what made her a good singer. I still like the fact that she overcame her battle with cancer and is still performing and touring today. Her still remaining active just brings everything full circle with this album! Excellent career compilation!!!!! My girl Olivia knows how to do it!!!!!
