Free Music Notes for The RumourFree Music Review: WHY WASN'T THIS A HIT?!? Hit: 5 StarsI can't help but love this album. From "The Rumour" to "Tutta la Vita" Olivia shows everyone that she still and always will be a magnificent singer. My favorite song has to be "Love and Let Live" but other highlights besides the title track are definitely "Let's Talk About Tomorrow," which almost mimics the styles of singers like Paula Abdul from the late 80's, and "Car Games", a great jazzy tune. And you just can't miss "Big and Strong" (I love the orchestration). This is a definite buy for any Olivia fan.
Free Music Review: Considered one of her best by her fans Hit: 4 StarsUnfortunately this CD didn't get the attention it deserved. It was released near the end of the 80's and by that time the spotlight had shifted to other female singers (ie Madonna, Whitney Houston, Janet Jackson, etc.). Although not near as popular as "Soul Kiss" or "Physical" the songs on this CD are more compelling. One of my favorites is the song "Big & Strong" which would have been a great fit for Kurt Russell's movie Soldier. If you ever wanted to hear her belt out a note and hold it forever (diva style) this is the song. Also, I liked the song "Car Games". It's a clever song that she helped to co-write. It has a definite jazz feel to it and sounds more like something Sade would have released. Hands down the funnest song has to be "Tutta La Vita". All but guaranteed to put a smile on your face it has a party atmosphere to it. In fact, towards the end of the song it sounds like she invited the cast from Grease to help her out. About the only song I find myself skipping over is her version of "Can't We Talk It Over In Bed". It's a bit lackluster but otherwise than that it's a great CD.
Free Music Review: It's big and strong! Hit: 4 StarsAgain Olivia suprised the world by making an album with songs about serious subjects, such as aids, divorce aso... Many of the songs were co-written by Olivia and that sure makes a plus, cause she sings with great passions,my favourite has to be Love and Let Live,a very powerfull song where Olivia's vocals reach full potentiel!
Free Music Review: No Rumour Hit: 4 StarsThis great album didn't get the attention it deserved, which has nothing to do with its great music and everything to do with any recording artist having a limited shelf life and then people stop buying. They'll go to concerts but won't touch the records. Great songs, great orchestrations, great singing and a lot to think about in this sharp collection. Well worth getting.
Free Music Review: A much overlooked record. Hit: 4 StarsOf all of Olivia's newtron-bombs, this is the one that detonates into the memory. It's the one where she sings about controversial subjects and with passion. When has she ever done this? Hell, she even enlisted David & David's producer for maximum effect. Of all ONJ's records, this is the only one I can take seriously as art.
