Free Music Notes for Buena Vista Social Club Presents Omara PortuondoFree Music Review: Bravisimo! Hit: 5 Stars
Listening to the ethereal voice of Omara Portuondo is a pleasure. This CD expounds greatly on the Buena Vista Social Club's recordings and showcases Cuba's greatest singer. Her voice is in the tradition of the great African American singers such as Sarah Vaughn, Morgana King and Ella Fitzgerald. I encourage you to sit back and take in every note of her precious voice. She will take you to another world...
Free Music Review: The female voice of Cuba Hit: 5 Stars
As a part of the Buena Vista Social Club music series, this recording is remarkable. "La sitiera", "¿Dónde estabas tu?" and "Veinte años" are impossible to fogert once you have heard them. After many years Omara is back. If you have never listened to her voice before I promise you will never forget her.
Free Music Review: Very Moving on Many Levels Hit: 5 Stars
I had heard her on the Vista Social club Video. She is wonderful and even better focused by herself. She is backed by the other social club members. She is able to stand on her own. Her voice is strong and moves you through all of your emotions. Even if you dont understand spanish her voice alone will move you.
Free Music Review: Builds on a great foundation Hit: 5 Stars
Since I was first introduced to the jewels of Cuba's past, I have craved more and more of this wonderful music. Omara's solo CD does not dissapoint, her voice is beautiful and the orchestrations are superb. Detractors of Ry Cooder's slide guitar will be happy to know that it is absent from this release.
Free Music Review: The Diva Hit: 5 Stars
Ms. Portuondo is The Diva! She has proven again that she is a world class singer, I just can't get enough of her. In my fantasies, if I were a singer, I'd want to sing just like her. I hope she continues recording many more albums. I want to buy all her albums. Please make them available.
