Free Music Review: The ultimate Opeth album

Although it is difficult to rank Opeth's albums (because they're all incredible), I would argue that this album is one of the greatest albums they ever made. "Harvest" and "The Drapery Falls" are amazingly gracious (if you like them, consider getting Alcest's "Souvenirs d'Un Autre Monde"). Then comes "Black Water Park", a very powerful and epic song.
This special edition comes with an extra CD, which includes two new songs ("Still day beneath the sun" and "Patterns in the ivy II") and a video of "Harvest"). If you're an Opeth fan, it's worth the extra cost.

I am new to Opeth and first heard of them when Ghost of Perdition came out. I was instantly intriuged by their mix of heaviness and melody. I immediately downloaded every album and have yet to hear them all because i am stuck on this one. It is SO good its almost awe inspiring.If i could change anything about it i`d have it a bit heavier in parts but not much heavier. These guys are super musicians and head and shoulders above the rest of the metal community.Buy this album and save your money for their other works, as this will not be coming out of your cd player for a long while!Free Music Review: Worth the two acoustic songs alone....

Seriously, the two acoustic songs on the second disc of the limited release of "Blackwater Park", are a MUST HAVE! Mikael really shines on both guitar and vocals on "Still day beneath the sun" and "Patterns in the Ivy II". Songs that should have been on the original "Blackwater Park" release.
Truly amazing folk songs that display the true power of Mikael's songwriting talents. Perfect for a gray or rainy day, they will touch your soul.
Well worth buying this limited release though, you will not be disappointed, unless you hate the clean theatrics of Opeth.

Blackwater further illustrates Opeth's two extremes. Songs like Lepper Affinity, Bleak, and Blackwater Park are blistering metal with Mikael's trademark growls. Then you have songs like Drapery Falls, Harvest, Still Day Beneath the Sun, and Patterns in the Ivy II. There is something here for everyone. My favorites are Bleak, Blackwater Park, Harvest, and the two bonus tracks. Opeth are great musicians that write incredible music. Opeth is incredible, the way they write ant-song music makes it more enjoyable, the songs are like 8-12 mins long..but they never get old! Mikael is amazing too, if you can get past the low growling and into the instuments you will fall in love with this band (Im talkin music here) anyways, this CD is great, if you dont have the rest of their CD's then this is a good one to start with, its incredible. Especially if you want something different.
