This album is a must for any true metal fan. It is a brilliant piece of work from start to finish. Its a mixture of heavy guitar riffs, progressive aspects and great lyrics infused into a beautiful story. The cd starts out with a stong force with the moor and soon slows down with the beautiful song benighted and quickly picks up with moonlapse vertigo. Face of Melinda and Serentity painted death are also great tracks, you wont regret buying this album or any opeth albums for that matter. Wow this cd is awesome. It's fine classical guitar segments are nice and humble. Then it explodes into its full rock session. These guys are truely incredible musicians. They play ferociously and press onforth. The moor is one of the single-handedly most awesome tracks I have ever heard. The rest of the cd is great, but you should buy this cd alone just for the first track. Number three is also a standout, just in its differences between the rest of the cd. Beautiful song. I never thought that I might say this about an album that has elemements of death metal, but I shall about this one. The guitar work is technically proficient enough to rival any, and they are able to integrate the acoustic with the hardest electric FAR BETTER than ANYONE I have EVER heard. Its rare to find music where all of the songs on the album are just about equally as good, but this one does just that for me. This is probably my second favorite Opeth album behind Blackwater Park.Free Music Review: Still Life: Essential Opeth

I have Ghost Reveries, Blackwater Park, Deliverance, and My Arms, Your Hearse in addition to Still Life. Every single Opeth album I have is excellent and well worth it. Opeth is downright mesmerizing, and Mikael Akerfeldt has the best death metal growl in the business. The highly skilled band members can be brutal, but they also take you on a journey. If you are into this style of music, Opeth is VERY fulfilling. Still Life is definitely one of my favorites.Free Music Review: My Second Favourite Opeth Album EVER!

This is a concept album and a sad one. Which is right up Opeth's alley. It's about a lost love named Melinda, of a man kicked out of town and so on. It's very melencollie and sad. And it's classic Opeth. They are the masters of contrast. One minute brutal and heavy and the next, acoustic and singing beautifully. And the songs are all long, like they should be.Plus the cover art is cool. Get this album today!
