Free Music Notes for Punk Statik ParanoiaFree Music Review: Punk Statik Paranoia Hit: 3 StarsThere was a point in time when people wondered if Orgy would ever release an album again. Indeed, the band had seen a lot of changes since the release of Vapor Transmission, the biggest of which being the decision to leave their home at Elementree to become the major act of singer Jay Gordon's D1 Music label. And yet here on the long-awaited Punk Statik Paranoia, we do not see the result of four years of absence from the music scene, but instead a veritable mishmash of quality over the course of nine songs, a weak effort for any band worth their salt. Although Orgy's Punk Statik Paranoia has a lot of enjoyable moments, it's a little hard to completely ignore the fact that Jay Gordon's lyrics have become fairly juvenile and cliched while the songs themselves seem to run on for far too long. When compared to their prior releases, it's definitely a better and more listenable effort than Candyass, but it falls very short of living up to Vapor Transmission in quality, leaving it squarely in the middle. In Orgy's case, the middle might not be very comfortable at this juncture.
Free Music Review: Unexpected release Hit: 2 Stars PSP is sort of disappointing. It's nothing like their early stuff. there are 9 tracks altogether. the instrument sounds are dope but the songs are terrible. on "vague" you hear the better side of orgy. this song is not that great but is a much more realistic song for this album. on the letdown "leave me out" there's this intro that sounds like a beat from some whiny boy band which was unbelievable. what were they thinking?
"inside my head" might pass for a good song you hear on the speakers while shopping at express. this one isn't too bad.
the rest is dumb, especially when jay raps in part of the first song.
Free Music Review: Orgy died Hit: 1 StarsI enjoyed Candyass and VP and was excited to hear they put out a new CD.......yeah. Well, the new record is terrible. Musically, they have turned into another nu-metal band. Lyrically, they have turned into another nu-metal band. Jay Gorden writes cliche' lyrics that are not clever and the rest of the band plays mediocre music. They have lost their uniqueness.
Then again, some people seem to really like this record. If you enjoy bands like Linkin Park, new Korn, Staind, and bland nu-metal bands, this is the record for you.
Free Music Review: Uh oh. Hit: 2 StarsAlthough I haven't been an Orgy fan for too long (2 years), I still think I'm entitled to say that Punk Statik Paranoia was less than good.
I read someone else's review and they referred to the newer sound being somewhat similar to that of Nine Inch Nials, which I think is way off. Orgy definitley sounded like NIN on Candyass and still a bit on Vapor transmission, and to be honest, I really love Trent Reznor's music. But on PSP they edged away from that, their dark apocolyptic cyber goth sound gone for good.
As for the album, I heard "Beautiful Disgrace" and thought I had put a Linkin Park song onto one of my mix CD's by accident, literally. I understand that Jay helped out with Reanimation, but Linkin Park's sound should stay theirs and Orgy should really dust off the synthesizers and bring back the industrial.
Free Music Review: One of the greatest CDs in my collection Hit: 5 StarsUpon hearing about Orgy from a friend, I decided to check out how "awesomely cool" this band was. Let me tell you; I was in awe with how great this CD was from the moment I listened to it, to now. With an edgy sound to futuristic metal, Orgy made it onto my list of awesomely cool bands. The CD in general deserves all 5 stars. As for the tracks, they are as follows:
1) Beautiful Disgrace (9/10) I sort of overplayed this one, but none the less; a great track.
2) Vague (10/10) I absolutely adore this song! One of the best on this CD. Starts out somewhat slow and builds into a headbanging chorus. Will stick in your head for days.
3) Ashamed (10/10) Great song... great song. Comments on this are much like Vague.
4) Make Up Your Mind (10/10) How much more awesome can Orgy get with this one? Very catchy music, great lyrics, you can definantly feel some energy from them in this one.
5) Leave Me Out (10/10) I LOVE the chorus to death; I would spend hours playing it over and over again. There's a great dark music part to the song as well.
6) The Obvious (8/10) Good song, good lyrics. Not the best, but another great track on the CD.
7) Inside My Head (10/10) This one has to be a tie with "Can't Take This." Wow, I LOVE THIS SONG! It's so catchy, and has very energetic music. Drums are awesome in this one.
8) Pure (7/10) A little less than good. I do like the chorus in this one... but it's still a lil' less than good as I said before.
9) Can't Take This (10/10) My absolute favorite song by Orgy, this song kicks complete a**. It's a great choice for the last song on the CD, but definantly has the most energy out of them all.
Overall, this CD is worth the money to the last dime/nickle/penny/whatever you spent on it. The lowest grade for the tracks is 7/10? Yes; it's great. GREAT. The CD is a GREAT choice for any hard rock/metal fan. Besides a select few CDs I have, this is one of the best ones I have. Even with 9 tracks, you could listen to it for hours, perhaps days on end... just shower every once in awhile, k?
