Free Music Notes for Death ProofFree Music Review: Terrible film - Brilliant Soundtrack Hit: 5 StarsTarantino may have lost his way in terms of his writing in this movie, but the disappointing 'DEATH PROOF' is partially redeemed by a wonderful soundtrack which as usual is an entertaining mixed bag of the familliar and the obscure. Foremost is 'Baby it's you' by Smith, which sounds even better without having to watch the skanky Jungle Julia dance to it. As usual I'll probably be spending more money chasing down more material by the artists featured by Tarantino. This soundtrack deserved to be on a better movie!
Free Music Review: Stuntman Mike would be proud! Hit: 5 StarsWhen I went to see Grindhouse last week and Tarantino's offering to the genre began, I knew I was going to want this soundtrack the moment Jack Nitzsche's "The Last Race" started to play.
I would honestly give this disc a five star recommendation as it is just as good as any of QT's other film soundtracks. There are some great songs that I had personally never heard before listening to the cd and Smith's "Baby, It's You" is a pleasant discovery. There's really not much more to say other than this disc is a solid purchase and easily recommended.
Free Music Review: BABY IT'S YOU!!! Hit: 5 StarsFun soundtrack. But the highlight is definitely BABY IT'S YOU by Smith. This great song still rocks thanks to vocalist Gayle McCormick. Don't go through life without listening to it a few 100 times.
Free Music Review: As always, Tarantino's soundtracks are great companions to his films. Hit: 4 StarsLike the movies themselves, the soundtrack albums made from Quentin Tarantino's movies are always a great mix of quirky, edgy, and exciting, and the soundtrack to "Death Proof" (Tarantino's half of the "Grindhouse" double feature) is no exception. Comprised of songs you probably never heard before and little known covers of songs you HAVE heard (along with Tarantino's usual sprinkling of dialogue excerpts from the film), "Death Proof, the soundtrack" will entertain you with its 16 bracing selections. I had a lot of fun with this and I bet you will, too.
Free Music Review: How does he do it??? Hit: 5 StarsAny time a new Tarantino movie comes out, I'm amazed at how much I love the music. Even though the music is rarely in my preferred genre. I'm a hard rock lover, and Tarantino's tastes lie more in the field of pop/rock. Usually older, lesser-known pop/rock. He has an amazing talent for plucking these forgotten songs out of obscurity and using them to stunning effect in his films. Death Proof is no exception. As usual, it contains of wide variety of musical styles. The soundtrack features the likes of T. Rex's Jeepster, Jack Nitzsche's The Last Race, Ennio Morricone, and a wonderful pop song from forgotten '60s pop group, Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich called Hold Tight. The real gem on the soundtrack, in my opinion, is April March's Chick Habit, which appears over the end credits. As one reviewer previously stated, once you hear it this song will remain with you for a long time. But that's okay, it's a great song. Where does Tarantino find this music? He's a great filmmaker and a genius with soundtracks. Check out this music, it's the perfect companion piece to Tarantino's excellent film, Death Proof. The better of the two Grindhouse features in my opinion. One of the reasons that Death Proof is so good is this wonderful, distinctive soundtrack. Fantastic from beginning to end.
