Free Music Notes for JunoFree Music Review: Great Film, Terrrific Soundtrack Hit: 5 Stars
Juno is a gentle, sweet, smart and moving comedy. It's a teen flick that works for adults, and an adult flick that works for teens. The soundtrack is the perfect background (and sometimes foreground) to what goes on in the film, but it also stands alone quite nicely. Most of the songs on the album are quiet, indie, folkie, and acoustic, like the Kimya Dawson songs (three of 'em) which are idiosnycractic and wonderful. Kimya Dawson (formerly of the Moldy Peaches who are also represented here) reminds me ALOT of the Be Good Tanyas (which is intended as a compliment), especially on Tire Swing. There are, however, also some great classic oldie songs from the Kinks and Buddy Holly and Mott the Hoople which are not acoustic-y folkie, but more raucous and energetic. Go out and enjoy the movie and I'm betting you will come back for the music.

Juno (Original Soundtrack) *****
A perfectly Corky soundtrack to go along with the perfectly corky film. Almost entirly acoustic with the exception of the Carpenters 'Superstar' which is covered by the fantastic Sonic Youth, and the David Bowie written classic 'All The Young Dudes' performed by Moot The Hoople.
Full of fantastic love songs from greats like The Velvet Underground, Kimya Dawson, and Belle & Sebastian make this worth the money alone. The added 'Anyone Else But You' performed by the two stars of the movie Ellan Page and Michael Cera is a nice touch as that is how the movie itself ends.
The soundtrack to juno is perfect whether or not you have seen the film, it is only more appreciated once the film has been seen so do yourself a favor and pick up Juno.
Free Music Review: Amazing indie/soft sound, compliments uniqueness of the movie perfectly Hit: 5 Stars
The soundtrack has a soft, indie feel with a few rambunctious songs thrown on there, complimenting the satisfying "not what you expected" feel of the movie. Kimya Dawson is the heart of the album: with a unique, half-adult half-teenage sound that captures the essence of Juno. Throw in Sonic Youth's almost-whispering cover of the Carpenter's "Superstar," Barry Louis Polisar's upbeat "All I Want is You," and Mott the Hoople's "All the Young Dudes" and you've got a well-balanced album of smooth sounds and catchy tunes. (and it's 100% eco-friendly!) An amazing album, A MUST HAVE for your collection. You WILL enjoy it! Personally, I didn't like this particular genre of music before I heard this album. It opened my mind to a new sound. Thank you, Juno. Thank you Kimya Dawson. And thank you color-safe bleach.
Free Music Review: Rhino scores a terrific soundtrack! Hit: 5 Stars
I LOVE soundtracks, especially when they include the actual music from the movie. If you have read any of my other soundtrack reviews, you will notice that NOT MANY soundtracks include actual music from their respective movies.
Juno, however, DOES. Not only does the soundtrack include all of the music used, it includes it IN THE ORDER IT APPEARS IN THE MOVIE ... yay!
I considered buying the 2-disc special edition of this, but in the end I purchased this single-disc version. I am HAPPY with my choice.
The liner notes reveal interesting facts about the making of the movie and the selection of music to go into the movie.
Now this CD travels with me in my car at all times. 2-thumbs up ... wizard.
Free Music Review: for your listening pleasure Hit: 5 Stars
There is nothing better than staying up listening to the best newly-acquired CD.
If you haven't heard it yet, give Juno Soundtrack a listen. It's outstanding! Not since The Garden State Soundtrack has there been such an entertaining movie album.
Pay special attention to the words in the original material, particularly "Loose Lips" by Kimya Dawson. But don't ignore "the oldies" by The Velvet Underground and Belle & Sebastian.
For those who have seen the movie, the soundtrack will bring up warm memories of captivating scenes (especially the last song, which is the movie duet between Michael Cera and Ellen Page); for those, who haven't seen the movie yet - what are you waiting for?
