Free Music Notes for Marie Antoinette

Free Music Review: Classical/Contemporary = Great Mix
Hit: 5 Stars

I love a good soundtrack...it's a great way to get a preview of artists you wouldn't normally listen to. A good soundtrack can make or break a movie.

This said, one of the things I loved best about Marie Antoinette was the amazing music it had. While I watched the movie, I was constantly aware of the music and exactly how it affected me...and the music in this movie was perfect.

The combination of classical and contemporary music in this movie works in a way I don't think anyone else has ever accomplished before - it's almost undescribeable. You'll just have to listen for yourself.

My absolutely favorite songs:
-Hong Kong Garden
-Natural's Not In It
-I Want Candy
-Concerto in G
-Plainsong
-Fools Rush In
-All Cats Are Grey

Free Music Review: Royally Fantabulous!
Hit: 5 Stars

I love this movie more than I can even describe, and this two-disc soundtrack is just as great for the low price. Disc one, the party platter, features post-punk and new romantic bands from the early 80s when I was in high school. "Hong Kong Garden" by Siousie Sioux & the Banshees is a totally righteous kickoff, and the two Bow Wow Wow songs "Aphrodisiac" and "I Want Candy" are undeniably sweet treats. I must admit, though, having never heard The Radio Dept. before and being totally pleased with all the tracks by them that Sofia Coppola put on this collection. Anyway, disc one is great fun, including the beautiful Concerto in G by Vivaldi.

The second set for the morning after is pleasant and mostly full of classical music, my favorite tracks being those by Dustin O'Halloran and Bow Wow Wow's cover of Johnny Mercer's "Fools Rush In." Any way you cut it, this soundtrack is ALL good, and among the best I've heard along with that of Grace of My Heart. If you love the movie and the music caught your attention as well, I say pick this soundtrack up. You will be royally pleased!

Free Music Review: Punk+Classical=Satisfying
Hit: 5 Stars

Although the 2 cds in this set are rather different - the first being Punk/New Wave and the second being mainly Classical - each are good and represent the two main themes in the movie. The first cd is a great mix if you like any of the artists on it, since all of the songs fit into the same genre. I highly recommend it.

Free Music Review: Unique Soundtrack
Hit: 4 Stars

Unique blend of music. Compliment and contrast well with my hard rock listening style.

Free Music Review: Very cool score
Hit: 5 Stars

Brilliant use of back-in-the-day music to frame Marie Antoinette as a teenager living in her own time. It's not "now" but it's not so far back, is it?
Loved The Cure to close out the film, beautiful.
Anyway, isn't it a little late (and uncool), 25 years on, to be stomping and fretting as to whether Siouxsie was cool? Let go of it already, geez.
