Free Music Notes for Ocean's ThirteenFree Music Review: If you liked the movie, you like this even more Hit: 4 StarsThe Claire de lune version is outerwordly, and Frank adds a finishing touch. Nice easy listening.
Free Music Review: David Holmes Does it Again Hit: 5 StarsI myself have always been fairly impressed with the music they come up with to put in the Ocean's movies. I like the style, and I especially like the way David Holmes does that style. He doesn't disappoint this time.
Though some of the bits are a bit shorter than you find yourself wishing they were, the soundtrack is still groovy and moves along nicely. Almost all the songs are almost instantly recognizable from their scene in the movie and bring to mind images of the appropriate scene.
There does seem to be a melody or two missing from the soundtrack that was in the movie, but doesn't that almost always seem to be the case? The things they have included, though, are well worth the price. It does a good job of pretty much combining the styles of music established in the first two movies (without that annoying "hippy" touch the second soundtrack seemed to have).
Oh, and maybe I'm just strange but one of my favorite songs on the disc is the Frank Sinatra song "This Town". Great stuff. It's a wonderful soundtrack.
Free Music Review: Incredible! Hit: 5 StarsI listened to the previous "Ocean's" music. This is absolutely a bomb. It really flips. It includes all the elements in this CD, including jazz, techno and flick. I really like this CD and I never regret to listen this over and over again. My personal favorite will be track 1, 2 and 13.
Free Music Review: should be called "sound bites" instead of "sound track" Hit: 2 StarsIt seems that all the other reviewers are incredibly charitable or perhaps I expected too much. I very much like the music on this album and unfortunately that becomes part of the problem. I can accept soundtracks having a few very short tracks such as dialogue from the movies or some brief piece of music but on this album that seems to be the norm rather than the exception with 13 of the 20 tracks being under 2 and a half minutes. A 20 track disc that has a total running time of under 45 minutes cant help but be fragmented. Again the music is good but about the time you start to really get into the beat or melody its over and another song starts up. After a few listens this frustrating trend only amplifies, the songs end up sounding like random samplings of tunes with no real discernable begining middle or end. In all fairness I do not own any of the other Ocean's soundtracks but I would certainly check the lengths of tracks prior to buying. In my mind the whole appeal of this type of electro lounge style of music is to set a mood and provide a sustained groove that carries the listener along. Most of these tracks can start the process but dump you off right as it gets going. At the risk of being overly harsh, I think this album would appeal to those with the attention span of a howler monkey on amphetamines or strip club patrons who have become conditioned to enjoy paying to be teased. As for me, I will better research future purchases or stick with actual albums that are intended to sound like a cohesive whole like Thievery Corporation, Kruder and Dorfmeister or St. Germaine if I want sophisticated sound that can actually carry a listener.
Free Music Review: The first one was the best...... Hit: 3 StarsOcean's 13 is a tale of revenge played out in a Vegas casino. Reuben Tishkoff (Elliott Gould), father figure to the Ocean gang, gets cheated out of his share of a new casino project. He has been double-crossed by his partner, Willy Bank (Al Pacino), and it's such a shock to his system that Reuben ends up in hospital.
The gang -- George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Don Cheadle, Matt Damon, Bernie Mac, Carl Reiner, Casey Affleck, Scott Caan, Eddie Jemison and Shaobo Qin -- offer Willy Bank a chance to fix things with Reuben.
When Bank refuses to play nice, the Ocean outfit decides upon a fitting revenge. They will ruin the opening of Bank's fabulous new hotel and casino, hitting him in the pocket and the ego. The financial side will require rigging all the games so that the house loses big, and the ego side will involve making sure that the hotel fails to win a coveted Five Diamond Award. All of Bank's other hotels have won the award, and it's a source of pride to him.
1. Infiltrate the Mexican factory where all official casino dice are manufactured.
2. Get the machine that will simulate an earthquake. Fiddle with the card shufflers, the roulette ball and the slots.
3. Ensure the guy who reviews the hotel (David Paymer) gets bed bugs and poisoned food.
4. Ocean's Thirteen is soaked in man juice, a pissing contest set in Las Vegas.
