Free Music Review: "Once" cd review Hit: 5 StarsI was watching MTV late one night and the video for "Falling slowly" came on. Keep in mind I never heard the artists before nor did I see the movie.
I was so blown away I literally walked to my computer and bought the cd with that track. I am a musician and record producer. After I got the cd in the mail it stayed in my player for days and I rented the movie which just made me love the cd more. Its an excellent independent film with excellent music, beautiful vocals, and tons of passion. This album puts other singer songwriter albums to shame. Well well worth the money.
Free Music Review: wears extremely well Hit: 5 StarsSometimes you see a movie and enjoy the soundtrack so much that you purchase it on CD. On more than one occasion the soundtrack has not come up my initial impressions while watching the movie. Not here, though. This is a wonderful compilation of tunes that don't get old with repeated listening. Just a beautiful, very listenable CD.
Free Music Review: Simply Wonderful Hit: 4 StarsThe music produced by Frames frontman Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova is a wonderfully touching set that does more than fit in with the movie - it's a stunning collection in its own right. For fans of Nick Drake, Elliott Smith, and any other folk-rock act, this soundtrack will remain in your regular rotation indefinitely. The opening track, "Falling Slowly," is such a haunting duet that it opens up the rest of the soundtrack so well. I don't think I've liked a soundtrack like this in a longtime (the last one was Jack Johnson's soundtrack to Curious George which continues to bring smiles to my face). When I listen to this soundtrack I cannot help but picture street buskers yearning to touch one another. Buy this, you will not be disappointed.
