Free Music Notes for OnceFree Music Review: "Falling Slowly" The Most beautiful Song Ever Written Hit: 5 Stars
This soundtrack not only has the Academy Award nominated song "Falling Slowly" on it but there are very few letdowns on this magnificent recording. I am a 56 year-old "Baby Boomer", grew up listening to the Stones and the Beatles. This CD blew me away. Besides "Falling Slowly" there is the equally impressive "When Your Mind's Made Up", "Lies", "Leave" and "If you Want Me." There is not a bad song on the CD! The soundtrack "Once" is a great introduction to the music of Glen Hansard and his group The Frames. The deluxe edition of the CD is well worth it as it has two additional songs "And the Healing Has Begun" as well as "Into the Mystic." It also has a bonus DVD.
This is a superb introduction to the Frames music. After listening to this CD over and over go to either your local CD store or to Amazon and get the rest of the Frame's CD's.
Free Music Review: Once: Music from the Motion Picture Hit: 5 Stars
Limitless stars; if any rating scale would allow it! A good friend with discriminating taste referred me to the soundtrack and movie. Absolutely amazing! It accomplishes what few soundtracks/albums ever have in that it not only blows you away the first time you hear it, but it also grows on you over time/repeated listening. (The genius in the depth and continuity became strikingly apparent over time.)
The soundtrack, like the movie, is the epitamy of bittersweet. It makes you cry, but doesn't make you sad. It says everything (really a global message) without saying anything in particular. Meaning is especially enhanced after viewing the movie.
If you love music, I strongly recommend the purchase of both. Unique, striking, full of heart, and delicately honest, you won't regret it.
Free Music Review: Hauntingly beautiful, wrought with talent Hit: 5 Stars
I absolutely despise musicals. I simply cannot help it. So when I heard that the movie, Once, was a musical, I had little interest in it...what a mistaken point of view. I was bored one evening and rented this film and I daresay it is the best thing I have seen in a long time. That being said, the soundtrack is what makes the movie so phenomenal. Hansard and Irglova are absolutely beautiful together, both on film and in their musical collaboration. The very minute the credits started to roll, I ordered the soundtrack. This is music pure and true.
I wish I could describe it better. All I can say is: If you are a lover of music, rent the movie. You will want to buy the soundtrack. It is sure to make you feel something, everything, all at once.
Free Music Review: Once soundtrack - five star review! Hit: 5 Stars
this cd is one of the best i have ever heard! every song is sung with such great emotion and feeling that its impossible not to get into it and sway to the music. glen hansard has an amazing voice that, while not "technically perfect" strongly emotes every word he sings. this cd is not just a collection of great music, its an emotional, musical ride from start to finish that leaves you wanting to listen to it over and over again. i especially like the first song "falling slowly" and the second "if you want me" and the fourth "when your minds made up" and the very last song "say it to me now". these songs are perfect examples of the high levels of emotion caught by glen hansard and marketa irglova's exceptional voices.

Free Music Review: Not a musical fan...but far better than you'd think Hit: 5 Stars
My girlfriend made me see this movie and she basically dragged me kicking and screaming. Especially after she mentioned "romantic musical." After nearly gagging myself into a coma, I had no choise but to succumb. And I will say as a person that DEFINITELY dispises love movies and CANNOT stomach musicals, this movie was shockingly great. The music is good, and as a real musicians, I'd expect each main character to have the acting abilities of Dennis Rodman and Sophia Coppola, but infact the were both extremely talented.
I HIGHLY recommend this movie and soundtrack. And this will be the first (and VERY likely the last) musical that I will add to my DVD collection, but it is well worth it.
