Free Music Review: beautiful soundtrack to a beautiful film

If you're into dumb neat Hollywood prepackaged cliches vacuous and lifeless with no soul because you've got the brainpower less than a gnat, this movie is not for you. If you like moving, real feeling, movies crafted with love with people who are as real as people you'd meet every day that moves you, this movie is for you. The soundtrack isn't just a companion to this wonderful movie, in a sense it is the movie, both beautiful and heartbreaking. In a rare feat of 40 years this is the first time both my favorite album is a soundtrack to a movie, but my favorite movie is a soundtrack to an album.Free Music Review: One of the best soundtracks ever!

Thanks to the source material. Even though someone who likes this kind of music will enjoy it on its own merits, I would recommend not buying this soundtrack until you see the movie. The movie is a wonderful exploration of the creative process and the struggles of young musicians finding themselves and their place in life. The soundtrack contains all the songs from the movie and will bring the movie back to life in your mind as you listen. Knowing the songs' place in the movie will explain why some are so low-tech, and others more polished. But the songs and the musicians are wonderful!Free Music Review: "Once" cd review

I was watching MTV late one night and the video for "Falling slowly" came on. Keep in mind I never heard the artists before nor did I see the movie.
I was so blown away I literally walked to my computer and bought the cd with that track. I am a musician and record producer. After I got the cd in the mail it stayed in my player for days and I rented the movie which just made me love the cd more. Its an excellent independent film with excellent music, beautiful vocals, and tons of passion. This album puts other singer songwriter albums to shame. Well well worth the money.

Outstanding!!
I watched this movie in a flight not knowing anything about it. From the moment it started till it ended, it had me completely engaged. I watched the movie again just for the music and the mood.
This soundtrack is one of the purest, heartfelt albums released this year. I am in love with Markéta Irglová's voice. "If you want me" showcases the beauty in her voice. Glen Hansard puts his heart and soul in his singing. Listen to "When Your Minds Made Up" and you will know what I mean. Every song is fantastic. A MUST BUY

If I could give it more stars I would. Went into see this movie that my husband had picked out. He said it was described as an unusual musical. That's all I knew. I loved this movie so much. Couldn't get the tunes out of my head. Went home right after the movie and bought the CD on Amazon. Went to see it again and brought my brother-in-law and his wife to see it. They loved it. I had already bought two CD's (planned on giving them one) even before they had seen the movie. This is one of those inexpensive movies that become an incredible hit. Trust me, go and see it.
