Free Music Notes for The Prince Of Egypt: Music From The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

Free Music Review: A wonderful album
Hit: 5 Stars

The Prince of Egypt soundtrack features some excellent music that might not impress at first, but grows better with each listening. It is now a favorite of mine. The lush instrumental numbers have a lovely classical lyricism to them and the vocal selections by Stephen Schwartz are cleverly constructed. The talents of Zimmer and Schwartz combine beautifully on "The Plagues", which is wonderfully dramatic without being overblown. There isn't a bad performance among the soundtrack soloists, and the chorus is outstanding! Surprise highlights include the beautifully orchestrated and sensitively sung "When You Believe", featuring Sally Dworsky and Michelle Pfeiffer (!). Another is "Through Heaven's Eyes", sung by Broadway giant Brian Stokes Mitchell (and if you think he's good on this album, you should hear him on the Ragtime cast recording!). The CD also includes Pop versions of some of the songs, but they are best avoided-especially the ludicrously over-embellished Mariah Carey/Whitney Houston version of "When You Believe" and the vapid, poorly sung rendition of "Through Heaven's Eyes", by K-Ci & JoJo. Overall, though, this album is great. Think I'll try listening to some Ofra Haza albums next.

Free Music Review: Beautiful
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a beautiful soundtrack of a beautiful animated movie.
It opens with the rich melodic voice of Mariah Carey and the symphonic vocals of Whitney Houston singing When You Believe.
But even better is the version of When You Believe sung by Michelle Pfeiffer and Sally Dworsky (Track 14). Most beautiful was the lovely voices of the blessed Israeli children who sung an exquisite melody in Hebrew during the middle of Track 14.

When you Believe is a beautiful inspring hope-filled song.
Following on is Deliver Us, with it's operatic overtures and the voice of the exquisite nightingale of Israel, Ofra Haza (MHDSRIP). It also includes talented young actress Eden Riegel singing the song of hope blessing her baby brother
Ofra Haza's beautiful voice also shines through in Goodbye Brother.
I liked the uplifting Middle Eastern style Through Heaven's Eyes by Brian Stokes Mitchell, less so the contemporized R& B version sung by K-Ci and Jojo.
There is the operatic dialogue of The Plagues sung by Ralph Fiennes and Amick Bryam, which is quite memorable.
This is beautiful music and even if you don't like soundtracks this album is quite incredible.

Free Music Review: "WHEN YOU BELIEVE"
Hit: 5 Stars

I have seen and heard both the movie and the soundtrack. I am very impressed by Hans Zimmer and Stephen Schwartz's songs and music collaborations. I love the songs "Deliver Us" by Ofra Haza and "Look Through Heaven's Eyes" by Brian Stokes Mitchell. I was not that fond of the movie's version of "When You Believe" by Michelle Pfieffer and Sally Dorowsky, but I did like the Hebrew children's chorus backing up the song. I really loved the pop version of "When You Believe" by Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston. It just sounds so sincere and just the thing we need to help those in need, like the soldiers in Iraq, refugees, prisoners of war, outcasts and rejects, and the people who have been recently affected by Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans and Alabama. I also loved the song "I Will Get There" by one of my favorite bands, Boyz II Men. I liked it that it was a cappella and spiritual. It's a real beautiful song. For the rest of the songs on this soundtrack I can't tell you about because I haven't heard them all or don't like them at all ("Playing With the Big Boys Now"). Buy this soundtrack today, and have an ear to listen and a heart to feel the music of this movie. THAT'S a REAL miracle.

Free Music Review: The Soundtrack of Peace
Hit: 5 Stars

A careful listen to this glorious soundtrack sends shivers through one's spines. I discovered this little treasure in my sister's CDs collection where it had laid for years. I was familiar with the Carey/Houston duet but to my pleasure it turned out to be one of the drabber (relatively speaking!) offerings included here. The other version done by Miriam and Tzipporah far outweighs the original: a splendid emotional trip that takes you to a place of hope and wishful thinking where the world means nothing anymore, add to that a marvelous bridge half way through, with Hebrew kids breaking in praises for The Lord, if you don't cry over this then you're no human at all. "Deliver Us" bestowed upon us by the great combination of Ofrahaza/Eden Riegel, is also one of the more notable offerings included here. Albums like these make you forget all your prejudices and allow you to consider the different perspectives and opinions that exist out there. This album is highly recommended, and I believe it would represent a great catalyst to inter-cultural dialogue; in this respect I "Christen" it the soundtrack of PEACE.

Free Music Review: ALL ABOUT OFRA HAZA
Hit: 5 Stars

Okay, I hate animation. Soundtracks like this one usually make me ill (particularly the inclusion of such distasteful tracks as the one with Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston-- two singers I could do without)... but somehow this animated film looked different and interesting, so I went to see it in the cinema (a first for me; I avoid animated films whenever possible, particularly in the cinema where there may be small children everywhere crying. This particular film did not seem of massive appeal to little children, though, so I decided to brave it). I loved the film, and the soundtrack was actually moving. Once again, a soundtrack contributed to my very positive feelings about a film. In this case, the tracks recorded by the late, and very much missed Ofra Haza were superb and transcended the film. Haza had a distinctive voice, and as soon as I heard her, I was transported to heaven. :) Otherwise (apart from Whitney and Mariah-- a case of my personal taste, of course) this is a fine musical delivery. Ofra Haza, though, is perfection that you should not miss!
