Free Music Notes for The Prince Of Egypt: Music From The Original Motion Picture SoundtrackFree Music Review: If you liked the movie, you'll love this soundtrack!!!! Hit: 5 Stars
Let me just start out by saying that I loved the movie "The Prince of Egypt" so much that I felt like I had to have a part of it with me. Now, normally I don't like animated films so much, but one of the biggest reasons I liked it was of because the incredible music!! The original soundtrack contains many great songs, like "Deliver Us" (from the very beginning of the movie), "When you Believe" (both versions: the one with Mariah and Whitney, and the one from the movie), a different version of "River Lulliby", by the extremely talented Amy Grant, a different version of "Through Heaven's Eyes" by KC and JoJo, and a wonderful ballad by Boys II Men called "I Will Get There". The soundtrack also features musical compositions from the movie, and songs like "Playing with the Big Boys Now" by Martin Short and Steve Martin and "Through Heaven's Eyes" (the one from the movie.) Anyone who enjoys the movie will definitely love the soundtrack!!!
Free Music Review: A Christian and singer's thoughts about this CD... Hit: 5 Stars
This CD contains some of the best movie music ever, and sadly a few goofy take-offs of that music. I give it five stars because the actual music that comes from the movie is simply sensational! You can clearly feel what the characters being portrayed are feeling (if you've also seen the film) by listening to this music. The downside of this CD is the renderings of very square, uninspiring pop versions of the movie's actual soundtrack. Or in the case of the song "Humanity", a sappy sentiment which really doesn't jive with the clear message of God's power and wisdom so thankfully preserved in the film itself. As a classical singer, I was surprised to find a contemporary movie with so much beautiful music and such beautiful and powerful renderings by the singers in the film. I've always wanted to have a chance to sing in a animated film with beautiful music and lyrics, but thought Disney was the best it could get - When I saw this movie - it formed my ideal!!!! Thank you, Dreamworks!
Free Music Review: An inspiration to a hopeful musician Hit: 5 Stars
I found this CD an extremely emototional experience. I've always loved Hans Zimmer, but I was not familiar with Steven S. I have aspirations of becoming a film composer, and this provided me with the inspiration to create something so clear and precise that you could see the movie through the music itself. It's not necessarily about the melody or pop songs that make the movie 'commercially' popular, but the texture and shape. It allows the listener to visualise and personally involve yourself in the music with out you realising. I can truly tell myself that I have achieved all I have ever wanted when I can communicate as effectively as a film can.... but through music. Then I may have half as much talent as Steven has shown in this amazing soundtrack. After listening to this soundtrack, all the hard work that I have done pays off, to think that someday, I may be that good! (review is from a young composers point of view)
Free Music Review: Apparently the first review I wrote didn't show up... Hit: 5 Stars
So I have to rave about this CD again. I bought it the day it came out and it hasn't come out of my CD player yet. Although the pop tracks leave much to be desired, it's easy enough to put them on skip and listen to the amazing score and beautiful vocals by Ofra Haza, Sally Dworsky, Michelle Pfeiffer (who knew she had such a great voice? it's perfect for her song!), etc. I can't wait to see the film now. "When You Believe" (the in-movie version, not the overvamped Mariah Carey/Whitney Houston version) and "Deliver Us" are especially not to be missed. While in keeping with the religious theme of the film, the songs aren't Bible-thumpers (one of the failings of many recent Disney tunes is their tendency to grandstand too much) - to me, a very nonreligious person, they were still beautifully written.Definitely a disc to keep around for a long, long time. I can't wait to see the film.
Free Music Review: This should have been best soundtrack! BOO to the Oscars! Hit: 5 Stars
I've checked this site from time to time and read the reviews of what I and many others feel is one of the most significant movie soundtracks to come out in many a year. I decided to wait before sending my comments until after the Academy Awards. With the current clientele that dominate the Academy of Motion Pictures and the pop music culture, their dismissal of this musically significant soundtrack has proven once again that the industry is governed with whatever is the current taste in their mouths and elsewhere, rather than using their ears, minds, and whatever they have left of their souls to decide what is musically significant, enduring, and meaningful. I'm hopeful, but not holding my breath, that long after the hype of Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey winning the best song from this film has worn off, the people who dismissed this great film score will kick themselves for rejecting it!
