Free Music Notes for Cinderella (1965 Television Cast)

Free Music Review: Gen X-er's this is the soundtrack
Hit: 5 Stars

For those of us who grew up on the Orignial taped Cinderella, this is the soundtrack. For those of us who were born after Julie Andrews performed it live and whose performance was lost except for the 1957 recording this is THE soundtrack. With the exception of the 1997 version of "Cinderella" with Brandy and Whitney Houston, this soundtrack is the only one that should ever have been released. The casting is perfect and the singing is fun. Afterall, Rodgers and Hammerstein wrote some of the most memerable scores. If you grew up with the 1964 version as most of us did. This is the soundtrack.

Free Music Review: Cinderella, a timeless love story
Hit: 5 Stars

The Rodgers & Hammerstein musical version of the fairy tale Cinderella is a timeless story of love and fulfillment of one's dreams. Despite her life of drudgery at the hands of a mean step-mother and two equally mean step-sisters, beautiful, sweet-natured Cinderella remains ever hopeful that one day she will find someone to love and care for her. The music is simple, but hauntingly beautiful, and you find yourself singing it long after hearing this lovely music. After 43 years, this is still one of the most enjoyable musicals I have ever heard.

Free Music Review: Re-recorded gem
Hit: 5 Stars

This is actually a studio re-recording and not an actual "soundtrack" record. The orchestrations by Johnny Green based on orchestrations by R. Bennett put Richard Rodgers' sentimental tunes to best advantage with a full overture, a waltz for the ball and more. The "South Pacific" rejected tune "Loneliness of Evening" is dusted off and works beautifully as a song for the Prince (Stuart Damon). Lesley Ann Warren is the perfect fragile heroine. This is possibly the most satisfying R&H album except for the 1965 soundtrack of "The Sound of Music."

Free Music Review: Cinderella (1965 Television Cast)
Hit: 5 Stars

Hearing the music from this selection was absolutely breathtaking. I remember watching the Cinderella special on TV as a child and continued to grow up singing many of the numbers from this great musical. The remastering onto a current CD was perfect. The voices were clear. The instrumentals brought back so many memories of the tunes that made this truly a classic for all time. There is nothing like this musical that even comes close to what is currently made today.

I've always loved this particular production of Cinderella since I saw it as a child (and that was about 40+ years ago!), and was thrilled to be able to not only find it for sale at Amazon.com (the site I trust the most!), but for a reasonable price, too. Not only have I enjoyed watching it again (and again, and again!), but my grand nieces/ nephew will now have the opportunity to experience something that I haven't seen re-run on TV in years.
