Free Music Notes for Flower Drum Song (1958 Original Broadway Cast)Free Music Review: A good buy! Hit: 4 Stars
There is a decent wealth of talent; with Miyoshi Umeki and Pat Suzuki, plus Juanita Hall. "I Enjoy Being A Girl" has become a theater classic, among others.
Free Music Review: Hall and Suzuki Save The Show! Hit: 3 Stars
"Flower Drum Song" was never top drawer Rodgers And Hammerstein to begin with plus "I Enjoy Being A Girl" and other material are of questionable value in today's social and political climate. However, this score is redeemed by the work of the great and underrated jazz vocalist Pat Suzuki and the brilliant musical theater character actress Juanita Hall. Both of whom save this musical from being a total travesty.
Free Music Review: Very weak Rodgers and Hammerstein Hit: 2 Stars
This is probably the weakest of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musicals and watching or listening to it is a test of your endurance. Its best song, "I enjoy being a girl", sounds suspiciously like a rewrite of several other R and H songs. R and H were taking it easy when they cranked this one out and it shows. Tedious and very dated. Do not expect a revival of this show.
