Free Music Review: Night Train
Hit: 5 Stars

One of the greatest trios in jazz history. Their improvisations are almost unbelievable. It blows me away every time I play it and that is often.

Free Music Review: Simply the best
Hit: 5 Stars

Oscar simply was the best jazz pianist I had the pleasure of hearing and meeting. Thank goodness these recordings will last forever so generations of new born jazz fans will be able to enjoy the master of the piano. Simply the best! Gary Farr, Sky.fm radio host Solo Piano Channel

Free Music Review: Oscar Peterson
Hit: 5 Stars

One of the truly great jazz pianists. A great mood leveler when you are stressed out.

Free Music Review: A cornerstone of any jazz music collection
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a very impressive recording that stands up well to repeated listening. The liner notes make for interesting background reading, and the music is as good as jazz gets, pure and simple. The quality of the recordings is quite high, and the bonus tracks are pretty interesting and give this work a lot more depth. I often listen to "train" while cooking or eating as background music, and I find myself having to stop and listen when I expect - or discover - another exciting passage. Peterson was truly one of a kind and although I've only recently started listening to him, this recording makes me want to fill out my jazz library with a whole lot more of Oscar's work. If you are a jazz enthusiast, or fancy becoming one, and you are wondering if you should get this recording or not, all I can say is, do yourself a favor, stop hesitating, and buy this CD.

R.I.P. Oscar Emmanuel Peterson
August 25 1925 - December 23 2007

One of the greatest jazz pianists of all-time exited this Earth not too long ago. However, he really hasn't left us at all. For his music will live on forever. This renowned recording is my personal favorite of all the great work he has produced over the years. No amount of hyperbole can express just how phenomenal Mr. Peterson was. This one is essential folks!

Oscar assimilated a variety of styles to create his own unique sound - from the swinging big bands to gospel to classical to the blues - this man was truly a master of his instrument. I believe he was at his best with Ray Brown (bass) and Ed Thigpen (drums) behind him. What a colorful trio! What chemistry! These cats could flat out play and together they were truly something special.

"Night Train" is his magnum opus, the best of the best, and one of my top twenty favorite jazz albums/CDs in my collection. Any fan of great music should appreciate this. Enjoy!
