Free Music Notes for Our Little Corner of the World: Music From Gilmore Girls

Free Music Review: Just like an invitation
Hit: 5 Stars

It is, just like an invitation to enter their little corner of the world just as we do every Tuesday. This CD is a collection of eclectic songs that somehow manages to transport you to that wacky little town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut. You can practically hear the Gilmore Girls bickering as you sip your coffee! There's also some fantastic pictures and liner notes in the cover. Including one of Lane's "Korea=Death" postcard from Season 2. It's a fantastic must-have for any Gilmore Girls fan, and any fan of music in general. Every song drudges up a different feeling, often ones you'll associate with things that happened in the episodes, or to you. Like falling in love for the first time, being a kid or a kid-at-heart, and the awe that the world can provide you with. The cues, more commonly known among fans as the "la-la's" provide a little something special to this soundtrack. It really is a wonderful world when you own Our Little Corner of the World.

Free Music Review: AWESOME!

Okay, a little background: I am a teenage female who has loved the TV show Gilmore Girls since the first season--And why not? Hilariously witty writing, strong, relatable characters, and a great soundtrack. I really couldn't wait until the soundtrack came out-I ordered it on this website as soon as I could. And it was worth the wait. From the upbeat "Know Your Onion"(The Shins) to the slower but still meaningful "Oh My Love" (John Lennon) and everything in between, this CD is great for Gilmore fans, music fans, and just about anyone else. I highly recommend both the soundtrack and the TV show--Tuesday 7:00 EST on the WB Network, by the way.
PS: For those of you really obsessed with the show (like me)and can catch a few inside jokes, the cover booklet has some amusing photos: Lane's "Korea=Death" postcard, Babette's gnome, the oven stuffed with shoes...

Free Music Review: To Expand Your Musical Horizons (Or At Least To Expand Mine)
Hit: 5 Stars

I adored this CD. Being a huge Gilmore Girls fan I asked for this for my birthday as I had no money, and have not regretted it. I can listen to it over and over without getting sick of it, and I never want to skip a track, though I have my preferences (Clear Spot, One Line, I'm The Man Who Murdered Love, Human Behaviour, Where You Lead I Will Follow, I Don't Mind, It's Alright, Baby, God Only Knows). I was pleased to hear that I agreed with Rory on Child Psychology - I liked it because it made me 'gloomy'. I also love Sam Phillips and the 'la-la' music from the show, and the cues make great transitions on this CD, just as they do in between scenes. I'm ashamed to say I hardly knew any of this music before watching Gilmore Girls, but this CD has made me want albums by every artist on here, so that's probably what my next birthday list will consist of.

Free Music Review: Fabulous

I loved the addition of Sam Phillips' instrumental portions or, as I call them, "La las." I loved most of the music on this soundtrack. There are a few songs from the show that I wish were included like "Happy Birthday", "My Darling", "Pictures of You", "Fade Into You", "Sometimes Always", "Christmas Wrapping", anything by the Bangles, and "Earn Enough for Us," but I'm not complaining. This is still a fabulous CD, well worth buying. The full-length version of the theme song is enough to make anyone buy it. I highly recommend this CD. I think this CD is enough to whet the appetites of any music lover to seek out the fabulous music from this quality TV show. Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino, KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!! You've made a convert out of me.

Free Music Review: Great mix

I don't really understand how this CD would gets called "eclectic" and reminds people of "Stars Hollow", although it does of course remind people of Gilmore Girls because that show has terrific music like this running through it. This cd isn't "eclectic"--I have most of these songs on cds in my own collection, which isn't "eclectic." If you like rock music you -have- to have these songs, or artists, or both, already in your collection. And this has nothing to do with Stars Hollow--in Stars Hollow the general populace probably listens to Louis Armstrong at best. This is predominately Lane's music. But this is really a terrific compilation. I think they should release one every season.
