Free Music Notes for P.S. I Love You

Free Music Review: Great music for movie but is missing songs
Hit: 4 Stars

As a Gerard Butler fan, I bought the CD in anticipation of the movie. I expected to come home and write a great review for the CD. However, I am SO disappointed. Where are Gerry's songs? For that matter, where is Hilary's song? Despite what Harry Connick Jr. told her, she did sing well. Oh, listen to me, I am rambling on. Disappointment does that to a person.

Let me deal with what fans have been dealt: this particular CD with these particular artists. It's not their fault. I have several favorites:

"Carousel,"Laura Izibor--love her bluesy/jazzy voice
"Fortress," Hope--her voice has the right melancholy
"My Sweet Song," Toby Lightman--my favorite, she sings a pure torch song
"No Other Love," Chuck Prophet--another great one, raspy voice
"If I ever leave this world alive" Flogging Molly--pure Irish

Side note: Nellie McKay, who sings the title song, plays Hilary's sister.
One national reviewer suggested Jennifer Garner would have played the role lighter. I beg to differ: Hilary Swank was perfect. Gerard Butler was perfect. Everyone was perfect, even Danny from Grey's Anatomy, who played Gerry's friend in Ireland.

I look forward to many more hours of listening pleasure from this CD. There, I'm over it. Can't wait to buy the DVD!!

Free Music Review: If you loved the film like I did, this soundtrack brings nostalgia
Hit: 4 Stars

The PRO's outweigh the Cons. The movie leaned heavy on the music which is one major reason why I loved the film so much. I enjoyed how it spans across multiple genres and suceeds!

I'll start with the CONS: I wish this had the funeral song on it! I didn't realize it wasn't on the track listing until after I bought it. A few songs I feel are cheesy, and I'm not a fan of James Blunt at all.

The PROS: I bought it especially for the six 'album only' tracks. It includes:
- No Other Love by Chuck Prophet; I think I played it 10 times in a row it's so beautifully simple just like the film. Everytime my boyfriend plays this song I melt and feel like the only woman in the world.
- Love You Till the End by the Pogues & If I ever leave this World Alive by Flogging Molly; OK girls- A chick flick with the Pogues & Flogging Molly is how I got my boyfriend to watch this film! Love you till the End is played by various artists throughout the film and really helps bring the audience into the mood of the story. I emplore everyone to buy more Pogue & Flogging Molly Albums!
- P.S I Love You by Nellie McKay; has me daydreaming of Madeline Peryoux & Dorris Day songs. Nellie also stars in the movie as the blonde sister!

Free Music Review: Would be a FIVE if they'd included Gerard Butler's Songs!
Hit: 4 Stars

I have to agree with several others who have written reviews. This soundtrack is wonderful (4 stars!) but I'm still waiting for them to release the 5 star version that contains Gerard Butler's songs (especially Galway Girl, which is also my favorite scene from the movie!)... I'd also love for them to include Hilary Swank's songs. Gerry and Holly's songs were an integral part of the movie, and should definitely be on the soundtrack!! Please folks... there was a Bridget Jones soundtrack and then a Bridget Jones 2 soundtrack that contained even more songs... It's definitely not too late to release a second soundtrack that contains these songs!!

Free Music Review: P.S. I Love You
Hit: 4 Stars

I laughed, I cried, I put myself in Holly's shoes. This movie really hits home for those who have lost a loved one, husband, child or parent, and even those who know it is inevitable and wonder how they would cope. It also made me look at myself as an individual and what I would do to pick myself up and carry on or find closure. Most definately thought provoking. I can watch it over and over.

Free Music Review: Missing One Great Song, I found it though..
Hit: 4 Stars

This soundtrack is missing one song from the bar scene right after Gerry's death. It is the first song playing the background. It is called "Safe and Sound" by a great artist named Nick Pagliari. You can find it on iTUnes though. I did after reading it in the credits and searching for it...it is a great song in a great movie. Hope this helps... I don't know why it isn't on the soundtrack???
