Free Music Review: Best album of 2009

It's more than nostalgia that makes me hold this album so close. I'd say of all albums released this year, there have been none that I've turned to so frequently as this one. And for that reason alone, it's making my #1 (although I suppose I'll offer a few more reasons). I feel as though the ultimate goal for an album is to make it addictive. To compel the listener to return repeatedly to their album, while the listener's attention is strained not only by innumerable past loves, but also innumerable new bands fighting for their niche in the scene. There doesn't seem to be a reliable recipe, but when a band strikes the perfect balance it reminds me of why I seek out new music. This album also shows how innovation isn't a necessary ingredient. Similar to how The Strokes wowed everyone earlier this decade, the solid, simple songwriting throughout the record make it more enjoyable upon every listen.
