I love Paolo Conte's voice and sense of rhythm. I found out about him by watching both movies Mickey Blue Eyes and Mostly Martha and I am hooked. The song Via Via is so compelling that I often listen to it 3 or 4 times in a row. Another plus: the words of the songs are included in the album, so I can follow and learn Italian in the process.Free Music Review: Best of

I heard Paolo Conte in a restaurant and it was so distractingly GOOD that i asked the waitress who it was. Some of the production is a bit dated (i.e. awful drum samples on a couple of tracks), but overall, what a treat. His songwriting/harmonies are really interesting, but still catchy as hell. The real selling point is Paolo himself, though. He's like your wry uncle, cynical, yet affirming life rather than turning against it.
No need to understand Italian. "Sotto le Stelle de Jazz" is my hangover song of the year.
